Rounding off this well-researched Urtext edition are an informative Introduction and a detailed Critical Commentary. The edition is being published to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Gounod's birth.* Gounod's well-known mass in a new Urtext edition* Bilingual Foreword (Ger/Eng) and Critical Commentary (Eng)* Idiomatic piano reduction* In preparation for the Gounod bicentenary year 2018

Of the 19 Masses by Dittersdorf which have been handed down, the present Mass, which is being published for the first time, enjoyed a special popularity during the composer's lifetime and it was even performed for the coronation of emperor Franz II in the Frankfurt Cathedral. This solemn, prestigious Mass shows evidence of choral movements in traditional contrapuntal church style as well solo parts with a modern, cantabile character. In addition, the Gloria includes a lengthy virtuosic violin solo, which also lends the work a concertante character (Dittersdorf was a professional violinist). Score and parts available separately - see item CA.2703500.

TheMesse de Requiemis probably the internationally best-known and most frequently performed work by Gabriel Faure . The composer's first version was limited to just five movements and small-scale forces with low strings, harp and organ. The work was then expanded several times culminating in the version for large orchestra of 1900. This orchestral version forms the basis of this edition.Despite its comparatively long period of gestation, the Requiem forms a stylistic unity. Unlike other requiem settings, the composer foregoes any theatrical gestures in this work. A restrained dynamic range together with graceful melodic writing for both soloists and choir give the work a gentle and optimistic character. The choral score just as the vocal score are based on the volume of the Complete Works of Gabriel Faure (BA 9461) published in 2010. It is important to note that this choral score is also compatible with the first small-scale version as well as the second chamber orchestra version.- High-quality Urtext edition based on theComplete Works of Gabriel Faure- First systematic evaluation of all sources- Based on the large orchestral version of 1900- Choral score suitable for all versions of the Requiem

for counter-tenor, clarinet in A, and 16-part SATB choir The piece sets extracts from the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, and is made up of six choral movements, including a substantial solo role for countertenor. Between these movements come five interludes for solo clarinet. Wittgenstein himself played the instrument, so here is a different projection of aspects of the philosopher. The countertenor's part may be sung in English or German.

During Mendelssohns years of study with Zelter, the arrangement of chorales already played an important role, and he continued to be occupied with the protestant chorale throughout his symphonic and oratorical work. The break Bach's works in connection with the reperformance of the St. Matthew Passion led to a series of cantatas based on well-known chorale melodies for choir, instruments, and sometimes also for soloists. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.4018500.
