In We both reached for the gun, Roxie is accused of killing her violent lover and Flynn’s argument is that they both ‘reached for the gun’ at the same time – Roxie had no choice but to kill him, or she would have died. In the staging, Roxie is portrayed as Billy’s mechanical puppet, which is why the music has a certain mechanical, even clockwork quality to it. This is a patter song, full of long streams of words, so take care not to go too fast. Albert Hay Malotte was an American pianist organist composer and educator. He is best remembered for his setting of The Lord's Prayer. Written in 1935 it was first recorded by the Baritone John Charles Thomas and remained highly popular for use as a solo in churches and at weddings in the US for some decades. Recordings by singers and groups including Doris Day Andrea Bocelli Elvis Presley and Barbara Streisand followed.The ‘Lord's Prayer’ is a venerated Christian prayer that according to the New Testament was taught by Jesus to his disciples. The song's melody is very similar to that of Schubert's ‘Ave Maria’.Thisversion is arranged by Carl Deis for Soprano and Tenor Soli and SATB Choir A Cappella. Duration ca. 4:20.

Sing, Choirs! is a library in miniature. It contains many of the Christian church's popular traditional anthems, including at least one example that will be suitable for each of the major services of the year. A number of Anglican chants (Psalms, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) are included, set out in a way that should enable those who are unfamiliar with the style to perform them easily. The selection of movements from the Mass can be used to enrich the music of the liturgy in services. Many of the works in Sing, Choirs! are presented in their original form, such as Bruckner's Locus Iste and Mozart's Laudate Dominum .
