O that we were there! is a text taken from the Christian hymn In Dulci Jubilo. It expresses a longing to be present at the Incarnation of Christ but it also conveys a longing to be out of the world oftime and space and in an eternal world.This work was written for Sherborne Girls in gratitude for having educated my daughters Theodora and Sofia. It is dedicated to the memory of Blossom Perronelle Barrow who died ofcancer aged 12.

O Radix Jesse by Polish composer Pawe ukaszewski is arranged here for unaccompanied SSAA Chorus with divisions. Pawe ukaszewski is part of a younger generation of Polishcomposers who specialise in sacred and choral music. After studying composition and receiving two Ph.Ds ? ukaszewski's work has been performed throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Thiscomposition ?O Radix Jesse is a setting of the Magnificant antiphons used in Christian advent and Catholic Mass.? The haunting harmonies created by the unaccompanied chorus inthis composition are sure to remain with audiences for a long time having been intricately crafted by this master of spiritual music. David Lindley in the September 2015 issue of the Organists' Review writes that? ukaszewski's music 'is often compared to that of Górecki Pärt and John Tavener and this piece manifests thefamily resemblance.'

Five choral songs. Par SCHONHERR CHRISTOPH. Since his earliest childhood, Christoph Schönherr has been fascinated by all things nautical. His cycle Von Schiffen, Meer und Wind (Of Ships, Sea and Wind) brings together verses by different poets that explore the sea in its various guises. The work's selected poems describe the vast ocean that can fill us with a deep sense of tranquility, but can also bring mortal danger with its storms and destructive waves. Boats, and especially sailing ships, are often associated with freedom, a sense of weightlessness, and security. But if we are caught in a storm at sea, we suddenly find ourselves at the mercy of nature. We are made painfully aware of our own insignificance in the greater scheme of things.According to the composer and passionate sailor: ?In the five choral songs I attempt to characterize the atmosphere of the texts and the emotions they contain. Sarah Quartel's Snow Angel for SSAA solo Cello Djembe and Piano. Already a firm favourite with choirs across the world Snow Angel is an evocative five-movement choral work that explores themes of love rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them yearning to make a difference to their lives. The work may be performed with narration in which three angels present their perspectives on their earthly charges. Sarah Quartel weaves a haunting and poignant Cello line throughout the work and a vibrant part for Djembe in movement four 'Sweet child' carriesthe listener from the ethereal and mystical realm the work predominantly inhabits into an emphatic anthem with a distinctly African feel. The musical language is emotive and pictorial allowing performers to play an active role in the storytelling. Snow Angel is also available in a version for SATB.

Joni Jensen Choral Series-As the inscription on the statue that greets you as you enter Texas Woman's University this message is powerful and empowering. The primary octavo is for SSAA choir piano and percussion but there is an alternate full score and parts for string quartet and percussion. Singing of making a path in a pathless wilderness and pressing forward with unswerving courage this song addresses the strength of women and their ability to conquer adversity in ways that only they can.

Music runs through the story of Arion which begins with a singing competition in Sicily. Arion wins the prize and this puts his life in danger: his newfound wealth excites the greed of the sailors who are supposed to be bringing him back to Corinth and they threaten to kill him. They allow Arion to sing one last song and the power of his singing attracts dolphins to the ship.  At the end of his song he jumps overboard and one of the dolphins carries him to safety.  So Arion’s musical gift gets him into trouble but it is also his salvation.   The idea of being rescued by a music-loving dolphin is very appealing. In Robert Graves’account of the myth the dolphin could not bear to be parted from Arion and accompanied him back to court where “it soon succumbed to a life of luxury.”  However Herodotus says that after his rescue and return to Corinth Arion failed to return the dolphin to the sea and it died there.  Apollo placed the dolphin among the stars and next to it Arion’s lyre in recognition of his musical skill.  This is one of the mythical explanations of the origins of the constellations Delphinus and Lyra. It seems natural to sing a story that has singing at its heart. When I was asked by the Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust to write a choral work for Making Music something that would be within reach of many choirs and involve children this story struck me as ideal: the men of the chorus could be the bloodthirsty sailors and the women could create an atmosphere of mystery for the arrival of the dolphins represented by children’s voices. There would be one solo voice: Arion the marvellous singer. Andrew Fardell the conductor who was advisor to this commission had suggested that I might use the same instrumentation as a popular arrangement of Orff’s Carmina Burana a work that as well as using children’s chorus features a solo countertenor. I thought the magical otherworldly quality of this
