8 page octavo Text: Jane Griner Published by: Dunstan House The text for this lullaby has been quite cleverly crafted by poet Jane Griner so that by the alteration of words in two spots shown in the score, the piece may be sung either as a general lullaby for any child, or as a more specific lullaby for the infant Jesus. Softly, Little Child was commissioned by a consortium of thirteen women's choruses organized under the auspices of the American Choral Directors Association by Dr. Lisa Fredenburgh, National Repertoire and Standards Chair for Women's Choirs. Minimum order quantity: 8 copies. Perusal copies are available by contacting office@DunstanHouse.com (include the organization name with your request). To order quantities fewer than 8.

Christina Rossetti’s poem extolls Mary, the mother of Jesus, exploring in images from nature the paradox of a divine, yet helpless, infant born to a human mother: The Sun of Righteousness her Son, she was His morning star. Eleanor Daley’s setting combines rich harmonies with a mood of hushed awe, in textures which sensitively move from unison to two-part passages, then open out to four-part harmony.SSAA, a cappella Published by: Treble Clef Music Minimum order quantity: 8 copies.

A Choral Suite for Two Part (Soprano and Alto) Children's Chorus setting the text of George Mackay Brown. This enchanting 12-minute cycle is typical of the subtle and delicate way Maxwell-Davies approaches writing for children: straightforward, tender, affectionate, yet with just a hint of the complexity found in challenging 'adult' works like the cycle Westerlings. George Mackay Brown's poetry with its haiku-like short stanzas and pointilliste allusive imagery leaves you constantly intrigued : who is the boy 'lost on the hill till sundown', and why is time 'a bird with white wings?' Is this perhaps the poet himself playing a bit of holiday truant?

Now available for SSAA voices! The first movement of Craig Courtney’s trilogy, Divine Encounter, is a song in which God invites us to receive His bounty. The first verse of Isaiah 55 is expressed as a celebration rather than the meditative, lyric manner found in most settings. In contrast, the setting of the sixth verse is regal, earnest and authoritative and the architecture of the movement is built upon the contrast between these two styles. Suitable for use on its own, or as part of the three-movement work; effective in both worship and concert settings. Scored for SSAA chorus and organ (in choral score) or piano (available separately) with optional brass sextet, or string quartet, or full orchestra. An accompaniment track (brass and organ) is also available.ChurchScripture reference: Isaiah.

Commissioned by the BBC as part of the celebrations for International Women's Day, and reflecting its theme of hope, Like a Singing Bird was premiered live on Radio 3 on 8 March 2015 by Sarah Connolly and the St Catharine's Girls' Choir, conducted by Edward Wickham. The distinctive vocal scoring features a small solo group of sopranos or mezzo-sopranos drawn from the upper-voice ensemble. The anthem is the first of three which are collectively entitled Echoes from Willow Wood, the second also being available in Choral Now. The text, Christina Rossetti's poem 'A Birthday', features in Virginia Woolf's classic essay A Room of One's Own, based on lectures delivered at Newnham College and at Randle's own Cambridge alma mater, Girton, an institution at the forefront of women's education for two centuries. Inspired by the clock in Girton's Stanley Library, the 'chiming rhythms' which are a driving force within the piece offer a further level of connection. The music moves from quiet anticipation to bright affirmation, the sense of something life-changing heralded by an Advent plainchant quoted in the second half. The final couplet is set apart in a hushed recitative, reflecting, in the composer's words, 'the hope I and other young female composers can have as we try to make our mark in what has traditionally been a male domain.'.

O Radix Jesse by Polish composer Pawe ukaszewski , is arranged here for unaccompanied SSAA Chorus with divisions. Pawe ukaszewski is part of a younger generation of Polish composers who specialise in sacred and choral music. After studying composition and receiving two Ph.Ds, ukaszewski 's work has been performed throughout Europe and the rest of the world. This composition, O Radix Jesse is a setting of the Magnificant antiphons used in Christian advent and Catholic Mass. The haunting harmonies created by the unaccompanied chorus in this composition are sure to remain with audiences for a long time, having been intricately crafted by this master ofspiritual music. Please note that the lyrics are in Latin. David Lindley, in the September 2015 issue of the Organists' Review, writes that ukaszewski's music is often compared to that of Gorecki, Part and John Tavener, and this piece manifests the family resemblance..

The a cappella choral setting Der Tag, der ist so freudenreich for four-part women's choir written by the 1553-born composer Johannes Eccard from Muhlhausen in Thuringia is, indeed, a real pleasure. The German-language text is borrowed from an old Latin Christmas carol, singing of the miracle of Nativity in two verses. Eccard manages, in an engaging manner, to musically express the joyous atmosphere of this poem. All four female voices (SSAA) join imitatively in the angelic chant of joy one after the other, while central words like 'freudenreich' [joyful], 'Himmelreich' [kingdom of heaven], 'Jungfrau' [virgin] or 'Mutter' [mother] are particularly embellished. This is exhilarating and easy-to-perform utility music for Christmas church services.
