The Baccanale is a genre of traditional Italian choral song without instrumental accompaniment. In most cases it is sung by two tenors and a bass. Most of the anonymous song are in a straightforward, homophonic-syllabic style. These songs are often at carnival time and are jocular in content, with a playful, ironic touch and they contain many erotic allusions. In addition to the Italian text of the 12 settings, sometimes in dialect, German singing texts are also included.

The Magnificat for 6 voices and basso continuo is the small sister of the Magnificat from the so-called Marian Vespers (Vespers 1610). Monteverdi published it in 1610 together with the larger work which included obbligato instruments - a real alternative for Vesper services and performances where only an organ is available. Score available separately - see item CA.2720500.

These seven sacred songs are suitable for treble, mixed, or men's choirs, or for solo performance. The texts are taken from various Sabbath services; many are suitable for use as anthems in Christian worship. While all are easy, each has distinctive features-rhythmic extension of a phrase, shifting meters, or harmonic subtleties-which make the set rank very, very high on the simple does not have to mean stupid scale. Please, before you buy another boring dreidel song, look at these. This blessing in 12/8 time is a setting of Psalm 19:4. Phrases alternate between E Minor and G Major, giving the piece harmonic vitality over a cross-meter piano figure. Unison; piano; Hebrew; Easy. Unison, piano Published by: Treble Clef Music Minimum order quantity: 8 copies.

The form displays a fine ability to create instant music for the assembly for these special weeks of Lent. The assembly responses, “Kyrie eleison†and “Christe eleison,†are stated first each time by the cantor, then repeated by choir and assembly. The verses, in three sections, twice progress logically up a minor third while also introducing variation to the responses. Unison or two-part equal voices
