Melodic charm bel canto sensibility impressionist harmony à la Française and jazz rhythm influences unite in this quartet for three B-flat Clarinets and Bass Clarinet. Yellow Green was premiered on July 23rd 2013 at the Teatro Municipal de Niterói (Rio de Janeiro) by the musicians of the Omega Quartet: Maurício Silva Deusiel da Cunha de Souza Diego Abreu and Mateus Falkemback (bass clarinet).    Approximately 9 minutes in length the title – Yellow Green – is a tribute to the two colours of the Brazilian flag. The introduction gives way to a vast Fugue (marked Vivace)dipped in the colours of swing. The central Adagio floats a dreamy timeless melody. The brief finale brings together the fugue’s thematic material with one last recommendation for the performers: “Feel jazz”. This invigorating work was recorded for the Chant de Linos label by its dedicatees the Omega Quartet clarinetists.

It?s the instantly recognisable theme from the incredibly popular US TV show, now known by a whole new generation of fans thanks to the 2010 revival of the classic series. This is a brilliant arrangement by Mike Sheppard that gives every musician in the ensemble something cool to play.
