Next to the Bible, they have endured as the timeless voice of the Christian faith, teaching and inspiring believers throughout generations. In this collection of “favorites†we offer listeners a compilation of the genre’s most beloved and inspirational hymns of faith. A city is founded—– it has a heart that beats. But visible achievements such as buildings and infrastructure merely bear witness to what its true heart is made of—the people who have lived, and still live, in the city. The pulse of the city, brought to life by itsheartbeat, changes over time. Who hasn't seen those time-lapse images showing twinkling lines of car lights as people make their wayto work, while others stand at traffic lights, only moving as if at the push of a button? These are like life flowing in the veins, driven by a strong heart. Leonardo da Vinci had already imagined the rivers as the blood vessels of the Earth. In any city, though, it's not the rivers but the movement and activities of the people who live there. The heart doesn't always beat steadily, however, but its rhythm can be influenced by joy, fear, and many other things. Every city has its own pulse. This is also true of the university city of Marburg, where people from over 100 nations now live together in a cosmopolitan and tolerant community. This work describes the city from its founding in 1222, and the charity of Saint Elizabeth, all the way to the present day.

“Woodwind and percussion players usually are unfamiliar with the antiphonal brass choir tradition. I made this modern, more easily readable version of Bonelli's classic 1600 Toccata for flexible wind ensemble with optional percussion, so that as few as 8 players up to full symphonic band could play in this style. I've used it as a dramatic concert opener, with the second, smaller group positioned behind the audience.†~ Shelley Hanson Recorded by the Eden Prairie (MN) High School Wind Ensemble - Dr. Elizabeth Jackson, conductor.

Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also known as Sisi, led a fascinating life shaped by external constraints and internal struggles. Born in 1837 in Munich, she became Empress through her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I. Despite the highs and lows of her marriage, she bore four children. Sisi's extraordinary beauty and her distinctive fashion sense were as well-known as her longing for freedom, which led her on numerous journeys throughout Europe, with a particular affinity for Hungary. Her relationships with the men in her life, especially Emperor Franz Joseph I. and Count Gyula Andrássy, hold significance. The composition by Otto M. Schwarz explores Sisi's freedom-loving nature and her loves, with the composer incorporating short musical motifs from her era.
