Les douze «Symphonies londoniennes» forment le sublime accord final de l’œuvre symphonique de Haydn. Elles ont été conçues pour l’imprésario londonien Johann Peter Salomon, et Haydn lui-même en dirigea les créations, lorsqu’il se rendit, en 1791/1792 et 1794/1795, pour quelque temps dans la métropole anglaise. La première audition de la Symphonie en Si bémol majeur n° 98, en 1792, fut couronnée d’un tel succès que les premier et dernier mouvements, allegro, durent même être bissés. Haydn était au pupitre de cette exécution - comme c’était alors l’usage - depuis son clavier, avec lequel il soutenait convenablement l’orchestre. Dans le Finale de cette symphonie, le compositeur se réserva, exceptionnellement, l’occasion d’un petit solo personnel d’accords arpégés, qui ne manqua pas de produire son effet sur le public.
L’Édition d’étude reprend le texte musical de l’Édition intégrale des œuvres de Haydn et garantit ainsi la plus haute qualité scientifique de publication. The two-movement, incompletely transmitted Horn Concerto in D major K. 412 was long considered as Mozart?s first horn concerto - it is, however, his last, and was written between March and December 1791. Mozart undertook revisions in the autograph ? which contains the most important orchestral parts next to the entire solo horn part ? in order to adjust the work to the modest technical abilities of the planned soloist Joseph Leutgeb. Mozart revised and completed the first movement, eliminated lower notes in the solo part, rewrote difficult passages and expanded orchestral interludes to give Leutgeb additional breath rests. Mozart also made similar simplifications in the second movement as well, but his early death prevented the completion of the work.Robert D. Levin reconstructed both versions of the concerto on the basis of the autograph. Next to the version revised by Mozart (?post correcturam?), he now presents the original version (?ante correcturam?) for the first time in a musical text revised and supplemented according to rigorous philological criteria. / Conducteur

The 'Concerto da Camera” (1941) is the last of his works inspired by the Baroque concerto grosso. The 'Rhapsody-Concerto”, composed eleven years later (1952), was the first work of his so-called 'fantasia period”, marked by a more open sense of form and an expansion of tonality. The edition of the 'Concerto da Camera' shows, for the first time, the extend of Martinu's modifications to the work since its composition and publication, particularly on the solo violin part. The edition of the 'Rhapsody-Concerto” takes into account, among others, the discovery of previously unknown contemporary performance materials. This volume of the Bohuslav Martinu-Complete Edition (BMCE) is based on a wealth of text and music sources, in particular autographs and contemporary copies that were recognized by the composer and early performers of the works, as well as some first editions created in collaboration with Martinu./ Répertoire / Conducteur
