In Olli Koskelin's 7 Haiku for flute and guitar the haiku gets three different interpretations: intertwined with the composed version the performers improvise it and read it out loud. Olli Koskelin's (born 16 April 1955) compositional output reflects a wide range of interests. The vast area covered by his style encompasses the neo-impressionism of the piano work Courbures (1989) to the post-expressionist echoes of his Music for String Quartet (1981) as well as the breakneck virtuosity of his clarinet piece Exalte (1985/1991) and the rich romantic textures of his orchestral piece ... like a planet silently breathing... (1993). He often uses the overtone series like the French spectral composers and avoids dramatic culmination. Patykula John (Trans.). Par PATYKULA JOHN. Cette collection de petite mais colorée comprend cinq pièces par trois compositeurs arrangés pour flûte et guitare. Le XVIIIe siècle est représenté par une Gavotte de l'un des compositeurs les plus connus de la période, Padre Giovanni Battista Martini (1706-1784). Deux mouvements sont prises par le célèbre cycle piano de Tchaïkovski, un Album pour les jeunes: ' Old French Song ' et ' Chanson napolitaine. ' Enfin, deux pièces par Enrique Granados prêtent une saveur espagnole à la collection: ' Oriental ' et ' Jota (Rondalla Aragonesa). ' Manifestement, la flûte prend les devants dans ces arrangements duo, avec le guitariste jouant un rôle de soutien actif. Mauro Giuliani was born in Bisceglie Italy in 1781. He was one of the most famous guitarists and composers in the early 19th century. In 1806 he settled in Vienna where he was celebrated as a virtuoso composer and teacher and stayed there until 1819. Via Venice and Rome he came to Naples where he spent the last five years of his life until he died on the 8th May 1829. From his vast oeuvre comprising about 220 works the two Duets for Flute or Violin and Guitar Op.25 and Op.85 are his key works from the genre that have been most played and recorded.This edition of the Grand Duo Concertant Op.85 for Flute or Violin and Guitar has been editedby Henner Eppel and Volker Höh.The solo flute (or violin) part is also included on a separate insert.
