Red Sun Chill Wind was commissioned for Geoffrey Collins and the first performance was given by Geoffrey Collins with Nicholas Routley on Piano at the S.H. Ervin Museum and Art Gallery New South Wales on 12th July 1981. The piece is based on a haiku by the famous Japanese poet Basho. Arranged for Flute and Piano.

Dedicated to Sat Hon and the Ancient Taoist Practice Society Inc the work received its premiere on November 19th 2003 at InterfaithCenter of New York by Philip Glass and Andrew Sterman. With a huge range of repertoire existing for the Flute Italian composer Alfredo Casella's Sicilienne et Burlesque stands out as an extremely evocative and inspiring piece composed notably as WWI broke out across Europe. Having studied at the Paris Conservatoire from 1896 under the direction of Gabriel Fauré >i>Casella received an exceedingly high standard of education. His clear compositional ability and understanding of the Flute is portrayed in his Sicilienne et Burlesque through the use of advanced Flute techniques and brilliant ensemble devices exploiting the duet between Flute and Piano. TheSicilienne is in a slow compound time significantly contrasted by the light and comedic Burlesque. These aspects combine to create an enjoyable and challenging piece for advanced flautists.

French composer Henri Büsser entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1889. He won the 1893 Prix de Rome and led a highly successful career as a composer conductor teacher and organist. His compositions for a variety of instruments are exceptional Prélude Et Scherzo for Flute and Piano being no exception. As reflected in Prélude Et Scherzo Büsser's compositional style was sophisticated yet true to the 19th century French tradition. Elements of the Prélude include chromaticism use of a wide tessitura complex rhythms and virtuosic semiquaverflourishes. The Scherzo displays use of varying time signatures a quick tempo and scalic passages. For all advanced Flute players Büsser's Prélude Et Scherzo is essential to a varied repertoire.

16 Pieces From 5 Centuries-The ‘Easy Concert Pieces’ series presents a varied selection of easy concert pieces for flute and piano from the Renaissance Baroque and Classical periods through to the modern era. To facilitate choosing individual pieces for performance and auditions at music schools competitions or examinations these pieces have been ordered according to level of musical and technical difficulty:Volume 1 (ED 22925) contains very easy to easy pieces with a range of notes up to two octaves.
