Belgian composer Marcel Poot (1901-1988) was a professional composer professor and musician. He studied at the Belgian Conservatory and went on to attain success as an Organist and composer. His substantial compositions for wind and brass are still performed to this day  Légende for Horn in F and Piano being no exception. In 1925 Poot and several of his contemporaries founded 'The Synthetists' a group to rival 'Les Six' in France. They wished to inject dynamism into the conservative Belgian music scene through the composition of modern pieces. Légende for Horn andPiano reflects this whilst maintaining recognisable musical elements. Poot's Légende published in 1958 is in Ternary Form ending with a fat allegro coda. For intermediate to advanced Horn players Poot's Légende is an exciting addition to the repertoire.

Romances for Horn and Piano-Camille Saint-Saëns composed his two Romances for Horn for two of the most respected French horn players of the time: Opus 67 in E major from 1866 is dedicated to Henri Chaussier; Opus 36 in F major from 1874 waswritten for Henri Garigue. Despite the illustrious recipients they are not virtuosic showpieces but as the term Romance suggests short ?Songs without words? that fully savour the typical romantic sound of the horn.Alongside the orchestral version Saint-Saëns also prepared a piano accompaniment for chamber music performances. Due to the fact that they are not overly technically demanding the Romances are also suitable for advancedstudents.

Composed for upper-beginners  Berceuse Op.19 is a piece for F Horn and Piano accompaniment by J. M. Damase. Quite short this piece is quite easy with a difficulty level 3°. Really nice and peaceful this piece is perfect to enjoy playing music aside from all the exercises and études necessary for beginners. The Horn begins “Andante” with a theme in seven measures accompanied by chords on the Piano. A really melodious part then features until the end of the piece when the initial themes are played again a Tempo. J. M. Damaseis a French musician and a great composer who wrotenumerous lyrical works and some chamber music. One of his most famous pieces is the Sonata for Flute and Harp.

Canto serioso for Horn and Piano-Carl Nielsen's Canto Serioso for Horn in F and Piano. Urtext edition score.The Danish composer Carl Nielsen was one of the most original composers at the turn of the 20th century. Basedon the German Romantic tradition he developed his own musical language especially in his symphonies that are still played very frequently. He also however often turned to chamber music settings.CantoSerioso was originally written as an audition piece for the Copenhagen Opera Orchestra where the position of low Horn player was to be filled. This fairly short work makes the most of the low register and theinstrument’s sonorous mid-range making it a welcome addition to the late Romantic repertoire for Horn.
