Panorama Of The Celtic Harp is a collection of 50 pieces which make it possible to embark upon the repertoire for this instrument. These are short pieces selected for their musical and educational interest.

The composer writes: 'My approach to writing these works for intermediate level lever harp was to fully embrace the diatonic and/or modal properties of the lever harp and to write into the strengths of the instrument. I also wanted to create works which whilst embedded in stylistically familiar territory also open up less familiar technical and musical elements for new players. For example the ???celtic??? themed works Coire Fhionn Lochan and The Road to Kilchurn Castle are derived from very familiar elements but which challenge the players ability to deal with irregular times and juxtaposed rhythmic material and Reverie which tests the harpists ability to maintain evennesswhile controlling gradual changes of tempo and dynamic within a very familiar technical landscape. One of the other important things was to write works specifically for the lever harp (as opposed to pedal harp) especially given that so much lever harp repertoire consists of arrangements or re-arranged pedal harp music. The lever system offers many advantages over the pedal system including the opportunity to employ chromatic possibilities that would otherwise be impossible. So some of these works indulge and celebrate these idiosyncrasies. I hope you will enjoy playing them as much as I enjoyed writing them.'

Born in 1929 French composer Pierick Houdy was a student of Olivier Messiaen at the Paris Conservatoire. He led a successful career as director of many institutions and choirs and his compositions remain known to this day Sonata For Harp being no exception. Composed in 1983 Sonata For Harp contributes to a substantial catalogue of works by Houdy. The Sonata comprises three movements and a typical performance lasts about twelve minutes. The work is modern in style and addresses a range of technical features. Suitable for advanced harpists Houdy's Sonata For Harp is anexciting addition to the contemporary Harp repertoire and makes for a evocative performance.

This book contains 41 of the world's greatest pieces of classical music specially arranged for the pedal-free Harp. Each piece has been carefully selected for its suitability although some of the pieces require retuningthe Harp in the key of E-flat. Written by Marcel Tournier  Féerie – Prelude Et Dance is a piece for Harp dedicated to Alphonse Hasselmans and to be played on the Pedal Harps. This piece would fit the skills and abilities of advanced Harp players and the technical difficulties encountered are numerous: hand-crossings numerous arpeggios natural harmonies many accidental alterations as well as some pedal changes. Marcel Tournier (1879-1951) was a French harpist and teacher. He studied with Alphonse Hasselmans at the Paris Conservatoire and composed numerous pieces for Solo Harp: ' Russian Lullabies' 'Six Christmas' 'FourPreludes' and 'Three images suite 1 Op. 29' among many others.

Arranged for Harp-This Wedding March was composed by Felix Mendelssohn in 1842 as a part of his suite for Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. It is most commonly played as a wedding recessional.This sheet music includes two Harp arrangements. The first is for intermediate to advanced lever Harp players or pedal harpists. The second is a bit easier. It can be played on small Harps with 22 or more strings from C to C.

Pièce pour harpe-French pianist and composer Serge Lancen (1922-2005) studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won first prize for composition in 1949. His professional career saw him winning many prizes for his compositions and For Raphaele remains popular in the Harp repertoire. As exemplified in For Raphaele Lancen's compositional style remained attached to the French characteristics featuring luscious melodies balance and clarity of tone. With a typical performance lasting about 2 and a half minutes Pour Raphaele demonstrates the versatility of the Harp addressing flourishes dotted rhythms syncopation and variations in dynamics. For all intermediate harpists Lancen's For Raphaele is a delightful addition to the instrument's repertoire.

The years between 1900 and 1925 in Paris were some of the most fruitful in the history of harp repertoire. Debussy?s ?Danses sacree et profane? and his ?Sonate pour flute, alto, et harpe,? Caplet?s ?Masque of the Red Death? and his ?Two Divertissements,? Gabriel Pierne?s ?Concertstucke? and ?Impromptu caprice,? and Ravel?s ?Introduction et Allegro? were among the many important compositions written during this period. Many harpists would give pride of place in this list, however, to Gabriel Faure?s ?Impromptu? and ?Une chatelaine en sa tour.?? now published here in one volume for the first time. These are both essentials for every serious student of the harp.

Six Pieces by Francois Couperin has been adapted here for the Celtic Harp or Harp with pedals by Ma té Echeverry. The French Baroque composer was known as Couperin TheGreat?and eventually became court organist and composer. He has been described as a musicians of the highest talent and ability.

D'après Les Elfes de Leconte de Lisle-French harpist and composer Henriette Renié (1875-1956) lived in poverty for much of her life. However this did not stop her from composing significant works for the Harp including Legende D'Apres Les Elfes inspired the poem of the same name by French poet Leconte de Lisle. Despite being a talented composer Renié lived at a time where fame and success was socially unacceptable for women. In 1903 she composed her substantial work for Harp  Legende D'Apres Les Elfes. As a highly virtuosic work this Renié piece displays use of cadenza passages exploitation of tonality complex rhythms and variety in performance directions. For advanced harpists Renié's Legende D'Apres Les Elfes is an exciting and varied addition to the repertoire.

For intermediate players Guitare Op.50 is a melodious piece by Alphonse Hasselmans. Composed ideally for pedal Harps this piece includes some pedal changes and some accidental alterations. Three sections can be differentiated: Allegro Moderato (3/8) Pas trop retenu (3/4) and Tempo 1 (3/8). The last part is a variation of the theme played in the Allegro Moderato section. Perfect for a recital this piece for Harp is really enjoyable to play and to listen to. Alphonse Hasselmans (1845-1912) is a Belgian-born French harpist a great composer and renowned professor. He has composed and transcribed numerousworks for the Harp. He also edited and reviewed a collection of works by Bochsa. His most famous piece is a concert piece called The Wellspring Op. 44.

This unique book of 14 lever harp arrangements includes excerpts of some of the most famous French works by Debussy and Ravel including Clair de lune The Girl with the Flaxen Hair and Pavane. The book features classicalexcerpts but there are five folk tunes and a medieval melody. The level of difficulty ranges from advanced beginner to advanced intermediate. This is a collection of some of the most beautiful French melodies and is a perfectaddition to almost every harpist’s repertoire. The arrangements all have fingering and dynamics. The keys range from two sharps to one flat but a full set of levers is needed for several of the more advanced classical excerpts.Eight of the pieces require no lever changes and five of the classical melodies require multiple lever changes.
