This beautiful ballad features flugelhorn and was recorded by the SWR Big Band on the CD Fun Time. The rhythm is in a bossa nova style with some beautiful ensemble orchestration and interesting chord changes. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued.

This chart was written when Thad lived in Denmark and was named after jazz organist Rhoda Scott. This writing is typical Thad that was a favorite of the Mel Lewis Orchestra and it is still played by the Village Vanguard Orchestra. This medium tempo AABA composition displays the classic Thad Jones harmonic and melodic approach to writing for a big band. Not as well known as Don’t Get Sassy or Tip Toe as it was first recorded in Denmark and then again with the Mel Lewis Orch on the The Definitive Thad Jones CD’s recorded in the US in 1988, but it is a great one. This adaptation of the Charlie Parker classic features a fast swing tempo and the bop-style lines you'd expect, but it also pays tribute to Bird by casting selected horns in intimate, combo-like settings within the full ensemble format. The solo work goes to lead alto, and alternating sax and brass solis culminate in a shout that takes this chart out strong.
