I Shall Love But Thee est une « ?uvre d?occasion » dans l?un des sens littéraux du mot puisqu?elle fut écrite à l?occasion du mariage du fils cadet du compositeur. Les textes de William Shakespeare ont inspiré Jan Van der Roost à écrire de la musique profonde et attrayante qui au niveau du style nous rappelle Henry Purcell (dans la première partie) et Georg Friedrich Haendel (dans la deuxième moitié) deux compositeurs qui ont mis en musique des textes de Shakespeare bien qu?on n?y retrouve pas de citations littérales. Cette ?uvre unique au regroupement plutôt rare de soprano et fanfare va enrichir votre répertoire !

A day fullof fun and pleasure awaits! You and the other visitors will be confronted with all the rides attractions and adventures the theme park has to offer. Which ride shall we do first?! There is so much to do and experience on this day in the park! Aparade of colorful floats and park figures is passing by.Let the fun begin!Part 2: The Haunted House [with animation]The only ride in the park that is not related to fun is the Haunted House. Here visitors will be challengedto visit a house full of ghosts creepy figures and other ominous things. The clock strikes twelve there is no turning back. Ghosts are whispering yelling screaming... Fortunately it is almost one oclock so we can leave this creepy placequickly.Part 3: The Swinging Galleon [with illustrations]What a huge pirate ship! Each time you swing back and forth you will feel that weird feeling in your stomach. When you are thrown completely into the top you will have afantastic view over the park but you can not enjoy it for long. Before you know the ship swings back the other way.Part 4: The Fairy Tale Ride [with illustrations]After all those exciting and spectacular rides and attractions it is time for a peaceful tour in The Fairy Tale Ride. Surrounded by a fairytale setting you will discover fable figures talking animals and colorful designs. Such a beauty and tranquility. Having had this experience we are ready again for thebig rides in the park!Part 5: The Bumper Cars [with illustrations]Now its time to crawl behind the wheel of the Bumper Cars! Shall we all chase the conductor?! Before you know you are hit by another visitor or you will bumpagainst someone else. In this tough ride you can prove yourself as a real driver or perhaps as a really bad one.Part 6: The Roller Coaster [with illustrations]The largest fastest and scariest ride in the park ... we shoulddefinitely do the Roller Coaster! All together in the train the over-the-shoulder restraints are lowering... be ready to ride. The train leaves the station and is heading for the big lift hill. It will be very scary when the train reaches the topand the train will be plunged down the first drop! Loops corkscrews and other spectacular coaster elements will follow... Before you know it the ride of your life is over. Shall we ride it again?!Part 7: Leaving the Park [withanimation]Unfortunately everything comes to an end.

Commissioned by the Japan Band Clinic Committee of Yamaha for the Nemu Band Directors Clinic in Nemu no Sato May 18-20 1997.The surprising title of this work is an indication of its content. By combining the somewhat similar names ‘Nemu no Sato’ and ‘Susato’ into a new word Jan Van der Roost has produced a significant and interesting subject. The Yamaha corporation has extensive facilities in Nemu no Sato Japan including a concert hall recording studios hotel and so on. Concerts workshops clinics and other events are held here including the annual Nemu Band Directors Clinic which consists of numerous musical events. Jan Van der Roost served as guest conductor andspeaker in 1994. He was invited again for the 1997 clinic this time with a composition assignment. The difficulty level of his new piece was to be Grade 2 - 3 bands. With this in mind Mr. Van der Roost strove to create a renaissance-like sound. Simultaneously he wished to create a tribute to Tielman Susato who like Jan Van der Roost lived and worked in Antwerp in the 16th century. The first performance of Nemu-Susato was conducted by the composer performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Band and took place during the Nemu Band Directors Clinic on May 19 1997.

Composed during the summer of 1988. Commissioned by The Norwegian Brass Band Club First performed in the Grieg Hall¬? at the 10th Anniversary Concert for the Norwegian Championship Bergen February 1989. EBML conducted by Michael Antrobus. The work is important for me because it was my first piece to be played outside Norway. Black Dyke/David King performed it and did a recording of it in 1991. The composer: In the original score I quote a Swedish bishop (Olaus Mangnus) who lived in the 15th century. He travelled around Scandinavia and drew maps - very important historic material. When he came to the north of Norway (where I come from) hedescribed the wind from the north as Ciricus: (something like) Worst of all winds is Circius that revolves(?= turn upside down) heaven and earth. (Well not a good translation I¬?m afraid). The fast sections reflects the mighty winds from the north. In the middle section I borrowed a folksong-like tune (by C. Elling a norwegian composer). The text (by Kristoffer Janson) tells about old times when the fishermen used open boats: they had to put their lives in the hands of God. De opening en het slot van dit werk beschrijven 'Circius' de wind die hemel en aarde verwoest. Het middendeel is een bewerking van het Noorse volkslied 'The fisherman's speech to his son'. De inhoud van het lied komt overeen met Circius. De vader verzoekt zijn zoon de krachten van de natuur te trotseren maar bovenal te respecteren. Een kort doch spectaculair concertwerk dat het gehele orkest in de greep heeft.

Il pourrait paraître surprenant qu?un ensemble japonais puisse commander une pièce pour orchestre de fanfare puisque l?on rencontre surtout ce type de formation en Belgique aux Pays-Bas et au Luxembourg ainsi qu?en France et en Suisse. Senzoku Gakuen l?une des plus grandes et plus prestigieuses académies de musique du Japon compte une grande variété d?ensembles et d?orchestres. En 2006 s?y est ajouté un orchestre de fanfare fondé par Sotaru Fukaishi un professeur d?euphonium qui pensait qu?il était nécessaire d?offrir de plus larges possibilités aux cuivres de la région. Depuis qu?il avait assisté au World Music Contest de Kerkrade (Pays-Bas) plusieurs années auparavant Fukaishi se prit de passion pour le son chaud et généreux de l?orchestre de fanfare une formation atypique au Japon. Jan Van der Roost a favorablement adhéré à cette nouvelle initiative tandis que Manu Mellaerts collabora avec les deux hommes afin de concrétiser certains projets. Le professeur Kazuo Tomioka doyen du collège de musique soutint vigoureusement l?orchestre et commanda Ostinati. La création de l?oeuvre fut donnée le 11 juin 2011 au Maeda Hall de Mizonokuchi (Kawasaki) où se trouve Senzoku Gakuen. La pièce débute avec un impressionnant solo de timbales précédant l?entrée des cuivres et des saxophones. La pulsion rythmique est constante la musique est énergique et de caractère affirmé. Une mélodie pentatonique émerge graduellement alors que la trame musicale diminue d?intensité et s?adoucit. L?ostinato à la percussion revient fréquemment et la première partie de l?oeuvre se termine dans un climat semblable à celui du début. Le deuxième mouvement doux et romancé débute avec un long passage en mode mineur joué par les saxophones. Le même thème apparaît alors en mode majeur et se développe peu à peu ; la musique s?intensifie pour arriver à un majestueux et orchestral forte dont les sonorités rappellent celles d?un orgue d?église. Puis le thème revient à sa tonalité mineure d?origine avec un changement d?instrumentation qui mène

According to his teachers Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) was not particularly gifted. His special talents were acknowledged only in 1865 when he had been working for the Ministry of Finances for some years. In 1866 he was appointed teacher at the Conservatory and applied himself to composing. His oeuvre is fairly extensive and many of his compositions receive a high ranking on the international list of classical music including his six symphonies solo concertos (violin concerto and piano concertos) ballets (The Nut Cracker Swan Lake) and his overtures (1812 and Romeo and Juliette). In 1893 Tchaikovsky died of Cholera after drinking a glass of infectedwater. His Slavonic March is a popular concert piece for symphonic orchestra that is still frequently performed in concert halls. David Well arranged the theme and created a contemporary march in rock style. Tchaikovsky once said to an unsatisfied teacher: ‘I will be a great composer within 10 years time.’
