The popular Swedish children's series Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) is about an exceedingly strong and strong-willed little girl with red braids - who is the brainchild of Astrid Lindgren. This series has been broadcasted in many countries. I arranged its cheerful theme tune in samba style. Even with the new rhythm, the original song is still very recognizable. In the exuberant samba style, the percussion plays an important role. Within the Långstrump Samba, this is especially clear in the ad libitum percussion solo halfway through the arrangement. Il débute sa carrière musicale en 1924 en tant que pianiste de cabaret. À cette époque, il compose de nombreuses chansons et opérettes. Maske in Blau dont est extrait l’air Die Juliska, die Juliska aus Budapest, est un des chef-d’oeuvres du genre. Cette opérette virevolvante et pétillante est structurée comme une comédie musicale. Par VAN DER ROOST JAN. I Shall Love But Thee est une « oeuvre d’occasion » dans l’un des sens littéraux du mot, puisqu’elle fut écrite à l’occasion du mariage du fils cadet du compositeur. Les textes de William Shakespeare ont inspiré Jan Van der Roost à écrire de la musique profonde et attrayante qui, au niveau du style, nous rappelle Henry Purcell (dans la première partie) et Georg Friedrich Haendel (dans la deuxième moitié), deux compositeurs qui ont mis en musique des textes de Shakespeare, bien qu’on n’y retrouve pas de citations littérales. La musique est à l’image du scénario imaginé par lecompositeur : originale et lumineuse pour mieux nous livrer les secrets des couleurs médiévales.
