This major concert work cosists o five movements.1st movement: La Laguna del ShimbeSituated high up in the Andes mountains in Northern Peru are the Huaringas, a group of lagoons in isolated and mysterious surroundings. The water has healing powersand for centuries traditional healers have settled there in small villages. From far the sick come to the Huaringas to be treated in nightly rituals, in which the hallucinating juice of the San Pedro cactus gives the prophet a look inside hispatient. The biggest lagoon is the “Laguna del Shimbe”, one of the countless wells of the immense Amazon stream.2nd movement: Los AguarunasFurther downstream in Northern Peru we come across the rain tribe of Los Aguarunas. It’s a proud, beautiful andindependent race, which has never succumbed to domination, not even from the Incas. They live from everything the forest has to offer: fish, fruit, plants, ... . They also grow some crops and live as semi-nomads. They take their fate into their ownhands and after having made contact with modern civilisation, they have integrated new elements into their lives without betraying their own ways.3rd movement: MekaronMekaron is an Indian word meaning “picture”, “soul”, “essence”. The Indians are theorigina inhabitants of the Amazon region. They either live in one place as a group or move around a large region. They all have their own political system, their own language and an intense social life. At the same time they are master of music andmedicine. “Everywhere the white man goes, he leaves a wilderness behind him”, wrote the North American Indian leader Seatl in 1885. As a result of these contacts with the whites, the disruption of most Indian societies began. (In this century alone,80 tribes have vanished completely).4th movement: KêêtuajêThis is the name of the initiating ceremony of the Krahô tribe in the Brazilian state of Goias, in which young boys and girls enter adult life. They are cleansed with water, painted with redpaint and covered with feathers, after which the ritual dance holds the entire tribe spell-bound.5th movement: Paulino FaiakanIn 1988 the Indian chiefs Faiakan and Raoni Kaiapo came to Europe to protest against the building of the Altamira dam inBrazil. As a result of the dam the Indians would be driven from their traditional land and enormous artificial would be created. The project was supported financially by, amongst others, the European Community. In February 1989 the Indian tribesaround Altamira held a protest march for the first time in their history together. Amongst other things they paid tribute tot Chico Mendez, who, murdered in 1988, was the leader of the rubber syndicate and a fierce opponent of the destruction of theBrazilian rain forest. Brazilian and world opinion was awakened. The building of the dam was -albeit temporarily - stopped.

The Other Side was written as a farewell to a loved one. Following the melancholy theme of mourning in a minor key we also hear the happy memories in major key and also the knowledge that the person who has gone to ‘a better place’ is now at peace. This is a soulful and calm work that leaves plenty of space for the musicians’ and listeners’ own thoughts. This set includes optional parts for piano and vibraphone.

The Other Side is geschreven als afscheid van een geliefde persoon. Behalve het melancholische mineurthema komen in dit werk ook mooie herinneringen in majeur naar voren. Bovendien klinkt in de muziek de hoop door dat de betreffende persoon nueen goed leven heeft ‘aan gene zijde’. Dit gevoelige, rustige werk laat muzikanten en luisteraars de ruimte voor hun eigen gedachten. De set bevat optionele partijen voor piano en vibrafoon.

THE OTHER SIDE wurde zum Abschied von einem geliebten Menschen geschrieben. Neben dem melancholischen Trauerthema in Moll klingen jedoch auch die schönen Erinnerungen in Dur durch und auch die Zuversicht, dass es die Person nun auf der „anderenSeite“ gut hat. Ein gefühlvolles, ruhiges Werk, das den Musikern und Zuhörern angenehm viel Raum lässt, ihre eigenen Gedanken schweifen zu lassen. Das Set enthält optionale Stimmen für Klavier und Vibraphon.

The Other Side (De l’autre coté) se compose de trois mouvements ininterrompus exprimant tout d’abord, le chagrin que l’on éprouve la perte d’un être cher mais aussi les moments heureux passés avec lui. Alors que le deuxième mouvement s’achève brutalement sur un fortissimo, vient ensuite un dernier mouvement instaurant une ambiance impressionniste magique : il évoque l’adieu, le passage vers une nouvelle vie. Une œuvre lente qui privilégiera vos moments de recueillement.

The Other Side è stata composta per dare l’addio a una persona cara. Oltre al tema malinconico del lutto in tonalità minore, arriva il suono dei bei ricordi in tonalità maggiore. Si confi da nel fatto che la persona riposiin pace. Un brano sentimentale e tranquillo, che lascia a musicisti e ascoltatori ampi spazi gradevoli per consentire ai propri pensieri di vagare. Il set comprende parti opzionali per pianoforte e vibrafono.

T the beginning of the 1980s Alison Moyet was discovered by Vince Clarke, who - in search of greater independence - had left the successful band Depeche Mode. The soulful singing style of Moyet and the electronic, innovative pop that Clarke made melded well together in the group Yazoo with hits such as Only You and Don’t Go. However, after a number of years Moyet went her own way and forged a solo career, during which she demonstrated a somewhat more traditional sound. She recorded several covers (such as The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face and That Ole Devil Called Love) but she also wrotefine songs herself, such as Love Resurrection and, of course, the expressive song AllCried Out. This arrangement by Peter Kleine Schaars does justice to the atmosphere of the original song.

Die erfolgreiche Karriere von Alison Moyet begann zu Beginn der 80er-Jahre mit der englischen Popgruppe Yazoo. Nach ein paar Jahren ging die Sängerin mit der starken Soulstimme jedoch eigene Wege und arbeitete an einer Solo-Karriere. Sie nahm einige Cover-Versionen auf, schrieb aber auch selbst schöne Lieder, darunter Love Resurrection und natürlich das ausdrucksvolle, unvergessene All Cried Out. Diese Bearbeitung von Peter Kleine Schaars wird der Stimmung des Originals vollkommen gerecht.

The sisters Ruth, Anita and June Pointer from West Oakland in California learned how to sing in the sixties in church where their father was a minister. At the beginning of the 1970s they entered the music business, where they proved to have a mastery of many styles - including rhythm and blues, jazz, and country. However, the Pointer Sisters acquired international fame at the beginning of the eighties with their soul-like pop music. A great hit was the up-tempo number Iâ??m So Excited, which is still a success on every dance floor. In 2005 it was 400 years ago that the first volume of the world-famous novel ‘El ingenioso hidalgo don Quichote de La Mancha’, written by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616), was published.

Don Quichote, a nobleman who is under the delusion that he must fight against injustice starts out on a journey with his steed Rosinante and his peasant squire Sancho Panza and experiences all kinds of remarkable adventures.
In the course of them his love for the lady Dulcinea of Tobosco plays an important role.
One of the most famous scenes is that of his fight against windmills on the plain of La Mancha, which he takes to be enormous, evil giants.

‘DonQuichote’ consists of four short pieces:
1. Don Quichote: the ingenious Spanish nobleman.
2. Dulcinea: the lady with whom this errant knight has an imaginary courtly love affair.
3. Sancho Panza: Don Quichote’s loyal and sensible servant who, compared to his master, is a simple soul.
4. Rosinante: the steed that has much to put up with considering it has a rider who often spends more time on the ground than in the saddle.

In 2005 was het 400 jaar geleden dat de schrijver Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616) het eerste deel van zijn inmiddels wereldberoemde werk ‘El ingenioso hidalgo don Quichote de La Mancha’ publiceerde.

Don Quichote,een edelman die in de waan verkeert het onrecht in de wereld te moeten bestrijden, trekt met zijn strijdros Rosinante en zijn schildknaap Sancho Panza de wereld in en beleeft allerlei opmerkelijke avonturen. Daarbij speelt zijnliefde voor de jonkvrouw Dulcinea van Toboso een bijzondere rol.
Een van de bekendste taferelen is zijn gevecht tegen de windmolens in de vlakte van La Mancha, die hij voor vervaarlijke, kwaadaardige reuzen aanziet.

‘Don Quichote’ bestaat uit vier korte deeltjes:
1. Don Quichote: de vernuftige Spaanse edelman
2. Dulcinea: de jonkvrouwe waarmee hij in zijn eigen verbeelding een romance mee heeft.
3. Sancho Panza: detrouwe en verstandige knecht van Don Quichote, die vergeleken met zijn meester een simpele ziel is.
4. Rosinante: zijn viervoeter, die heel wat te doorstaan heeft met een berijder, die soms meer op de grond ligt dandat hij in het zadel zit.
