She conducted many student groups and composed and arranged music for them until she retired in 1971. She continued to be actively involved in music thereafter, examining, composing and organising concerts. She spent her later years in Gloucestershire and died in 1996.Dr. Kristin Leitterman is currently the Assistant Professor of Oboe at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA, where she teaches oboe and bassoon, Double Reed Techniques, and coaches small chamber ensembles. She is also the Director of the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class, a week-long immersive oboe master class founded by Bert Lucarelli in 1996. As a guest artist she has presented master classes at many institutions, including the Manhattan School of Music, New York University, and the Hartt School.As a researcher, Kirstin has interests in the life and works of Mary Chandler. French oboist, organist, teacher and composer, Charles Colin (1832-1881) studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won many prizes. Colin then went on to lead a successful musical career and his wealth of experience led to the composition of Famous Solos for Competitions, which remain highly regarded to this day. Not only does it ‘look like’ oboe music but the writing (within the oboe’s exact range at that time) ignores more than an octave of the clarinet’s potential range. Also, it is most unusual to find the solo wind instrument duplicated in the accompanying orchestral parts, thus providing unnecessary competition in timbre.Frédéric Chopin: Variations on a Theme by RossiniNo such ambiguity surrounds the origin of Chopin’s Variations on a Theme from Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola — orginally for flute. It is not definitely known for whom they were written, but they may have been either for his father (who played the flute), or for his close friend Matuszynski. An ABRSM syllabus title 2014-21, Grade 6.From 1906 on Béla Bartók was collecting folksongs on a regular basis. It was in 1907, during his first collecting trip to Transylvania, that he jotted down those three melodies in Gyergyóteker patak, Cs k, which he both provided with piano accompaniment (From Gyergyó) and arranged for solo piano (Three Hungarian Folksongs from Cs k) in the same year. The melodies were played by a ''sixty-year old man'' on a peasant flute. In 2015 we are launching a series entitled Bartók Transcriptions for Music Students to mark the 70th anniversary of the composer s death. This involves reissuing our tried publications, and publishing some further,new transcriptions that fulfill in every respect the strict aesthetic demands of the earlier ones. We trust these publications will allow us to introduce still more music students to the realm of one of the great geniuses of 20th-century music.

The source of the present edition of the Oboe Concerto in A minor by Antonio Vivaldi is the Collected Works of Vivaldi, edited by Malipiero, published by Ricordi 1955. The title of the original score is Concerto in La minore per oboe, archi e cembalo the original setting: Oboe, Violini I-II, Viole, Violoncelli, Contrabassi and Cembalo. The arrangement for oboe and piano is kept in accurate conformity with the musical text of score, the continuo part - however - has been more freely adapted (of course within the possibilities of baroque style). The piano part contains the entire orchestral material in the Tutti-s, thus the soloist is not obliged to play all the Tutti parts.However, in Movement I and III the first and last Tutti may never be omitted by the performer. It is difficult to determine exactly how many oboe concertos Antonio Vivaldi wrote. Although the present Concerto in F major was earlier seen as a secure work by Vivaldi (therefore it has the old RV-number 458), Vivaldi's authorship got even more disputable (in contrast to the C major Concerto RV 446 MR 2294). The doubts cannot even be dispelled by the existence of two sources from a large collection in Lund, Sweden. The Adagio central movement deserves our particular attention, as it was transmitted in different versions in the two sources. The Concertino IV for oboe and string orchestra was composed in 1982-83 and dedicated to the renowned Swiss oboist Jean-Paul Goy. Its three short movements, following the traditional tempo order, mirror Farkas's attraction to Classical order and harmony. The musical language is modern and personal, however, and allows the soloist to exhibit his virtuosity.
