'The genesis of Aubade is a piece for Piano which I wrote in the spring of 2015 and which I afterwards thought might go rather well on the Oboe. As I warmed to this idea and a piece for Oboe began to develop Irealised that I was constantly thinking about Oboist friends with whom I had had such pleasure when playing in various wind ensembles. Aubade is therefore in a way a celebration of those friends. There is nospecial significance in the title but it seems to me to be appropriate.' - Michael Walshe

Volume 3-French oboist Louis Bleuzet (1874-1941) studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won first prize for Oboe. Being a virtuoso of the instrument himself his The Technique of the Oboe is very well-informed. Bleuzet's career saw him become soloist at the Paris Opera as well as a professor of the Oboe at the Paris Conservatoire. Published in 1937 The Technique of the Oboe was compiled by the composer toward the end of his life. The third volume gives focus to arpeggios and staccato within a variety of rhythms time signatures intervals and other aspects. Sadie Harrison's Three Jennys for solo Oboe. Performing score. Three Jennys was written especially for Jenny Porcas who gave the work its first performance on 7 June 2014 at the Purbeck Arts Week Festival in St. Mary s Church Swanage. The three miniature movements are entitled Spinning Jenny (based on the Lancashire folksong Poverty Knock associated with the textile industry of the nineteenth century) Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummelaria) which twists andturns like the plant itself and Jenny Wren heard here in virtuoso voice. Three Jennys is dedicated to Jenny with affection.
