(1993)Since its premiere by the Baltimore Symphony in 1994 at Carnegie Hall the GRAMMY®-winning Metropolis Symphony has entered the orchestral repertoire and been performed by orchestras all over the world.Metropolis Symphony is a five-movement musical response to the world of Superman; Red Cape Tango Daugherty's final work based on the Superman mythology is set after Superman's fight to the death withDoomsday. The principal melody (first heard in the bassoon) is derived from the medieval Latin death chant Dies Irae. This dance of death is conceived as a tango presented at times like a concertino comprising stringquintet brass trio bassoon chimes and castanets. The orchestra alternates between legato and staccato sections to suggest a musical bullfight.

Suite from the film music-This is the Pocket or Study Score for Aaron Copland's The Red Pony which was written in 1948 for the film of the same name.

Here is a wonderful collage of four cherished folk songs scored for the intermediate full or string orchestra. This wonderful arrangement includes A-Rovin Early One Morning; Barbara Allen and The Lincolnshire Poacher. A wonderful variety of tunes that students should get a chance to play.

This new arrangement from Richard Meyer is fairly challenging but very gratifying. All the textures and concepts of Dvorák's original have been carefully maintained while making the work more accessible to school groups. Scored for strings woodwinds brass in pairs and percussion this transcription is full of charm and style and will make an excellent addition to your full orchestra library. (Grade 3).

'Realms of Endless Day' is a fantasy setting of the hymn tune melody, 'Picardy.' This melody, thought to have been named for the region in France where it is believed the melody originated, is also the melody for the hymns 'Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence' and 'Christians, Let Us Love One Another,' as well as the 'Hymn of Saint James.' This enduring and tuneful melody is given three contrasting statements that gradually build to an exciting conclusion. This piece is scored for full orchestra by arranger Michael Kamuf, but will work quite effectively with strings alone. (3:30) / Orchestre

Score-Rossano Galante's The Redwoods for Orchestra.The Redwoods was commissioned in 1998 by the North Tonawanda High School Band under the direction of Norman Alexander.Thiswork inspired by the beauty power and majesty of the Redwood - the most remarkable of trees - begins with a heroic-romantic Trumpet melody accompanied by Woodwind arpeggios punctuated by Brass rhythms. After a transition theopening melody is followed by the rich lush main theme (m.29) which is stated by the Horns and Woodwinds.After the main theme has undergone variations in orchestration a new section follows (m.65) with the upperWoodwinds playing a second delicately stated theme reminiscent of a music box. The new theme is heard just once more (m.73) but played in a heroic manner by the Trumpets and Trombones in juxtaposition of the original 'music box'statement.The main theme recapitulates in a similar heroic manner (m.82) and as each theme returns it is heard with a change of instrumentation and accompaniment. After the final thematic statement a Brass fanfare bringsus to the end of the piece which culminates in a grand climax.
