Taras Bulba, a rhapsody for orchestra, is one of Janacek's most famous works, written around the years of World War One. The composer made major revisions to his original 1915 score, and the work was eventually premiered in 1921. This new critical edition by Jiri Zahradka is published in two versions: the new Study Score Series edition (UE036505) and the large new Conductor Score Series edition (UE035866, approx. 10 x 13).

John's Gospel is the basis for an innovative new musical setting of the timeless Easter story. The composer weaves striking new melodies and traditional hymn tunes together to produce a vibrant, energetic work of meditation and praise. The congregation is called on to sing with the choir in a sensitive setting of When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and a rousing arrangement of Crown Him With Many Crowns. New settings of What Wondrous Love Is This? and O Sacred Head, Now Wounded are ingeniously intertwined with new anthems. An inspirational and deeply moving experience for choir and congregation alike. Performance time: approx. 25 minutes. Mele Kalikimaka, the closest approximation of saying Merry Christmas that there is in the Hawaiian language, was written in 1949 and recorded by Bing Crosby and The Andrew Sisters in 1950. This first rendition of the tune is still popular today and many of your students and audience members will recognize it with delight! It is almost impossible not to sing the syncopated title phrase and beginning it on an up-bow helps create accents and fun! The accidentals are all familiar ones that give the piece color and interesting parts. Every section has their own entrances and gets a chance to play the main melodies and important supporting parts. Mele Kalikimaka, arranged by Jan Farrar-Royce, is a fun and musically educational way to celebrate the holiday season!
