Coronation Anthem for Mixed Choir and Orchestra-Zadok The Priest HWV 258 (BA10258) and The King Shall Rejoice HWV 260 (BA10259) are the best-known of the four coronation anthems that Handel wrote for the crowning of George II in London (1727). HWV 258 accompanied the king’s anointment HWV 260 his actual coronation. Thanks to their festive and majestic structure befitting the occasion as well as their spacious scoring for Large Choir and Orchestra it comes as no surprise that motifs from Zadok the priest have found their way into the official hymn of the UEFA Champions League. The present editions by the authoritative Handel scholar Stephan Blaut are the first to offerthese two anthems based on the Urtext from the Halle Handel Edition. St Asaph Toccata was commissioned by Symphony Hall Birmingham as part of the Bach to the Future Series. The composer writes: 'The original title for the piece was Toccata Machine as I had an image of the gigantic Symphony Hall organ as some kind of mad machine uncontrollably spewing out manic toccata figuration. Except for a short oasis of calm two-thirds of the way through the piece is very loud and has millions of notes in it. The eventual title refers to the street in South London where I live rather than the Welsh Saint Asaph'.

This piece was originally part of a major work for concert band called 'The Turn of a Wheel' which has received performances in many parts of the world since its premier in November 1999. In 2002 the finale 'Power and Glory' was performed in the Royal Albert Hall by a massed band of 250 young musicians from South West London as part of the Making Waves concert. The composer has skilfully adapted that finale for organ and it makes an impressive show piece indeed!

Les archétypes et capturés dans son travail de caractères ont été l'inspiration subliminale derrière une grande partie de la matière dans la musique. Cette pièce considérant éblouissante est coulée dans une travée unique comprenant plusieurs sections contrastées, et il invite toute la gamme des capacités techniques, expressives et registrationnelle d'instrument et de joueur. Né à Beyrouth et formé au Conservatoire de Paris, l'organiste et compositeur Naji Hakim (né en 1955) a remporté de nombreux prix à la fois comme créateur et comme un artiste. Après avoir travaillé comme organiste à Paris depuis de nombreuses années, par exemple en tant que successeur d'Olivier Messiaen à La Trinité, il a été compositeur en résidence à la Royal Academy of Music de Londres depuis 2004. Pour le 100e anniversaire de l'organe Binns à l'Albert Hall à Nottingham, il a été chargé d'écrire 'Fanfare pour Nottingham. Vintersalme-Musik (1980) - Choral prelude for Organ. Orig. title: Vintersalme. Programme note: When in 1975 I had finished composing my 3rd Symphony (begun in 1973) I wrote three simple melodies for two psalm texts by Ole Sarvig “The Year” and “Choral Hymn”. One of these was later included in the Danish Hymnbook under the title “Året – Som året går” (The Year).  These three “Sarvig tunes” were derived from the same material as the second movement of the symphony and could be harmonized together in several different temporelationships at the same time - like fractals. This inspired me to write several choral and instrumental works in the following decade based on these melodies: for instance “Frost Psalm” “Winter Cantata” “Cycles” “Cantica” and this piece for organ all coloured by the Nordic and mythic poem by Sarvig the beginning of which goes:  The passing year will pass its deep  So shall our mind reach winter´s sleep.  And as the tree stands leafles bare   Is winter´s realms: our minds aware.  Per Nørgård

Flight of the Bumble Bee from the opera 'The Legend of Tsar Saltan' based on a text by Pushkin is without doubt the best-known work in the oeuvre of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1906). The musical droning of the bumble bee has wedged its way into the concert halls and radio stations in different arrangements and interpretations. Uwe Korn now presents a new arrangement for piano duet. The well-balanced and nice-sounding setting is of medium difficulty and makes Flight of the Bumble Bee accessible to pupils for private music-making or auditions.
