Description Widely regarded as the culmination of French romanticism on the organ, Widor's symphonies include some of the most frequently performed and recorded works in the modern organ repertoire. Most of these symphonies - so called to emphasise the orchestral wealth of timbres offered by the new French organs - were written specifically to exploit the capacities of the modern Cavaille-Coll organ, especially the rich-toned five-keyboard instrument at St-Sulpice in Paris. Motet Intabulations. Par SCHEIDEMANN HEINRICH. Le présent volume de 12 Motet Intabulations vient compléter les 3 volumes déjà publiés avec la musique d'orgue par Heinrich Scheidemann (vers 1595-1663), de sorte que le oeuvre d'orgue complet de l'organiste de Hambourg est maintenant disponible dans un éditorial modern standard. De 1611-1614 Scheidemann a étudié avec Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck d'Amsterdam et de 1629, a travaillé comme organiste à St. Catherine à Hambourg depuis environ trois ans et demi décennies. Il a fusionné le style de son maître avec la tradition allemande du Nord et est donc considéré comme co-fondateur de l'école allemande d'orgue du Nord. Pendant longtemps, l'habileté à transférer des compositions vocales dans la notation de doigt avait été un des principales exigences sur un organiste formé de façon compétente. Au début du XVIIe siècle, cependant, la technique plutôt ' intabulation pratique ' s'est évanouie à l'arrière-plan en faveur des formes innovantes de l'arrangement de la firmi cantus sacrée. Elève de Louis Vierne, Alexandre Guilmant et Charles-Marie Widor, ami de Marcel Dupré, Emile Bourdon fut un musicien complet, dès son plus jeune âge. Composées entre 1926 et 1971 alors qu'il était organiste de la cathédrale de Monaco, ces Six Pièces proviennent de sources différentes et ont été réunies ici après un long travail collectif effectué par l'Association Emile Bourdon. Peu connues du public et des organistes, ces oeuvres sont pourtant remarquables par leur qualité, leur langage très personnel et leur sens aigu de la registration et de la façon de bien faire ' sonner ' l'instrument.
