William Blake was a highly versatile universal genius - poet, painter, copper engraver and philosopher - who in the face of the rationally based Enlightenment put the worship of ecstasy, energy, intuition and imagination above all reason. He was inspired by a vision of the prophet Ezekiel as a child and went on to construct a creative cosmos consisting of myths, opposing forces and uninhibited psychic painting. Misunderstood by his contemporaries, he only began to be rediscovered at the beginning of the twentieth century, for example by W. B. Yeats, and subsequently also during the 1960s by various figures including the 'beat poets' associated with Allen Ginsberg, filmmakers and numerous modern poets. Enjott Schneider.

John Stanley's 30 Voluntaries - published in three collections as op. 5, 6, and 7 - are amongst the best-known organ works of the 18th century. These compositions in free style were met with great acclaim by his contemporaries. The first volume, published in 1748, immediately achieved classic status and encouraged other composers to write similar collections. The op. 5 collection is now published in an up-to-date Urtext edition by Carus, based on the first printed edition and a 1785 edition consulted for comparison. The pieces, of easy to medium difficulty, are for manuals (and can alternatively also be played on the harpsichord), and mainly comprise two movements in the sequence slow - fast. Rhythmic energy, richness of color through the use of solo registers such as cornet and trumpet, dialog between the manuals with multiple echo effects - these are the characteristics of these wonderful compositions, which are also suitable for use in worship.

Triptykon / Triptych for Organ solo by Niels Rosing-Schow. Triptych is written for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, commissioned by The Danish Society of Organists and Cantors. From the preface: The three movements of the work are musical images or situations, with the middle one, Toccata, as its axis. The latter is intended as an image of the dispute between Luther and the ecclesiastical authorities, which is the origin of the Reformation. Two of Luther's Reformation Hymns are more or less palpably present in the music. The other two movements can be regarded as 'before' and 'after'. The first, Exordium, is a 'fluid' situation, but also a preparation, which gradually accumulates a suspense pointing towards the discharge of energy of the Toccata. The third movement, Hymn, represents a serene situation, where a wealth of hymnal fragments grows out of an underlying structure, repeated several times(technically speaking, a passacaglia). There are also elements, however, which are derived from the previous movements. Niels Rosing-Schow (2016).

This recessional follows in the great English tradition of such works as by Mathias, Jacob, Howells, and others. Its rhythmic motion is full of energy and the themes jump back and forth across the manuals in colorful fashion. The piece builds in intensity and concludes with toccata-like figurations in the hands. Recessional woudl be a splendid postlude as well as a concert work.
