Commemorations of the First World War have drawn attention to many forgotten masterworks, and this is one of them. Written in memory of his great friend and war-poet, Rupert Brooke, Nieminski has given it happy new vigour, in his transcription for organ.

The cantata O God, what glut of care and pain BWV 58, which Bach subtitled Dialogus and wrote for the Sunday after New Year, limits itself accordingly to the dialog couple consisting of soprano and bass; further soloists or a choir are not required. In the framing movements, the dialog takes on the form of a chorale arrangement: the soprano presents a cantus firmus whose words are consolingly commented on by the bass. Both the expansive chorale arrangements leave room for an aria which is framed by two recitatives. The cantata was composed for the Sunday after New Year 1727, but the received form is from a subsequent performance that took place six or seven years later. For this performance, Bach not only expanded the instrumentation but also replaced an entire aria. Later, he assigned the cantata to his annual cycle of chorale cantatas, probably due to its high proportion of chorales; this Sunday was missing in that annual cycle as there was no Sunday between New Year and Epiphany in 1725. Andante festivo is originally composed for string quartet by Jean Sibelius (1865-1957). The direct radio broadcast of its string orchestra version in 1939, honoring the World Fair in New York City, was Sibelius's last public appearance as a conductor. This solemn, hymn-like composition fits perfectly for the organ. Pianist, cantor-organist Esa Ylonen's transcription is based on Karl Ekman's piano transcription.

As is the case with 'Trauermusik', there now exists an organ version of its sister work. Heribert Breuer, choir director and professor in Berlin, arranged the score for the organ, thus opening up further possibilities for this expressive piece. It is perfectly suitable for church concerts and can be performed without great difficulty.

Carus published the original version of Bruckner's Te Deum for soloists, choir and large orchestra (Carus 27.190) in the fall of 2015. In order to make this work available for performance by smaller-sized ensembles [und einem weiteren Benutzerkreis zuganglich zu machen] Carus now presents it in an arrangement for brass quintet and organ. The brass parts are orientated essentially towards those in Bruckner's orchestral version, while the organ part follows the original string parts. [Damit kann nun auch unter eingeschrankten Bedingungen dieses grossartige Werk in einer adaquaten, stimmigen Form zur Auffuhrung gebracht werden.] As the voice parts (soloists and choir) in this reduced version are identical with those of the original the vocal score and choral score of the latter version can be used. This work is available (in the original version) in carus music, the choir app! Score available separately - see item CA.2719000.

Organists who are not only completely comfortable withe instrument are still called upon to play for a variety of ceremonial occasions, including weddings. Organist and organ teacher, Kyle Johnson, has provided pragmatic adaptations of some of the core pieces in the ceremonial repertoire. These were field tested by organ students from Kyle's own organ studio, and are tailored for organists who, in particular, have a still-developing pedal technique. In addition to wedding staples from Wagner, Mendelssohn, Pachelbel, and Clarke, some of the the other favorites include are: Air on the G String/Bach, Ave Maria/Schubert, Panis Angelicus/Franck, Rondeau/Mouret, Air from Water Music/Handel.
