Children's Piano-Continuing where Book 1 leaves off Book 2 covers many of the early problems encountered by the young pianist. Dotted rhythms are effectively taught through familiar titles that the pianist will love to play. Again a listing ofproblems and correlating pieces is provided for the teacher's convenience.

These six lyrical waltzes are part of a whole series of dances for piano from the quill of the young Offenbach. It is quite likely that their creation was occasioned by various events before they were joined together into a collection for publication. Each piece is dedicated to a particular individual (or 'rose') from amongst the Parisian nobility: A pretty bouquet to which the only twenty-year-old composer was certainly not indifferent. For him, it was surely also a means of attaining a special place in the fashionable salons. / Piano

Wladyslaw Szpilman (1911-2000) était une grande star de la radio d'Etat polonaise dans les années 1930. En Septembre 1939, lors d'une émission en direct, il a été défileront Chopin 'Nocture en C Sharp Minow' lorsque le sudio a été bombardé. Echappant de justesse à deportiation et les bouchons de la mort, il a survécu avec l'aide de ses amis polonais et a été épargné par ulitamtely un officier allemand qui l'ont entendu jouer de la même 'Nocturne' dans sa cachette. Après la guerre, Szpilman a repris sa carrière à Radio Etat polonais, revenant sur ??l'air une fois de plus avec le 'Nocturne'. Au cours des décennies suivantes, il se produit en concert comme soliste ainsi qu'avec le Quintette avec piano de Varsovie en Pologne, à travers l'Europe, en Asie et en Amérique. Plus tard, il a raconté son expérience dans un livre best-seller - 'Le Pianiste' - qui a formé la base de Roman Polanski, film primé. This short piece (which also exists in versions for violin or bassoon and piano) was created for the 'Blues' project of the Dutch pianist Marcel Worms. The title maybe alludes to the fact that such a busy artist has to spend a lot of time on the road between performances. However, the composition is, by no means, melancholy. It rather is a lively piece playing with thirds mainly in a high register. Bitonality and jazz harmony contradict the musical-box-like character in a fascinating way. Marcel Worms recorded Economy Class Blues on his CD 'A Can of Blues' which has been released by the label Vermes Records. / Piano
