None But The Longing Heart (Often translated as None But The Lonely Heart) is a song for solo Voice with Piano accompaniment. Written in 1869 it is the last in a collection of six Romancesthat formed the composer's opus 6. The words were originally written in German by Goethe and translated into Russian by Lev Mey. He was the first Russian composer to write in the European style generating criticism from his peers for abandoning the Russian culturalheritage but gathering acclaim across both Europe and America.

Par NAOUMOFF EMILE. These songs by Emile Naoumoff are squarely in the tradition of French lied composition such as by Gabriel Fauré. Here, Naoumoff chose texts by late 19th-century French lyricists: Auguste Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, Emile Verhaeren, Charles Baudelaire and René-François Sully-Prudhomme. In their elegance and suppleness, the four songs sound typically French. As they are all easy to sing and have not been composed 'against' the voice, they are perfectly suited for both music lessons and concert programmes. Naoumoff was born in Sofia in 1962. At the age of eight, he began his career as a pianist and composer; he was a student of Nadia Boulanger for ten years until her death. At the age of ten, Naoumoff composed and performed his own piano concerto under the direction of Yehudi Menuhin. He then received numerous awards and prizes and gave performances as highly acclaimed pianist. Today, Naoumoff lives and works as an associate professor at the School of Music of the Indiana University at Bloomington. George and Ira Gershwin joined DuBose Heyward in Charleston to write the opera which had been germinating in George's imagination for several years. Porgy and Bess was George Gershwin's longest and most ambitious creation but it was not truly successful during his lifetime. Some of the songs had achieved popularity before Gershwin's death in 1937 but the work earned real approval and favor only after the 1940 Theater Guild presentation of a slightly revised version. For years it was performed more frequently in Europe where it was considered a true American opera than in America.

L?art des castrats repose sur peu de documents imprimés à caractère technique (méthodes, traités). La fameuse « feuille » de Porpora (bref recueil d?exercices censés mener à une haute maîtrise) reste inconnue, même si une édition anglaise tardive clame le contraire. Seuls subsistent de nombreux solfeggi manucrits, composés par les maîtres napolitains (Durante, Scarlatti, Leo, Aprile, etc.). Dans ce contexte, les écrits de Pierfrancesco Tosi (1654-1732) et Giovanni Battista Mancini (1714-1800) prennent une valeur inestimable. Ils ont fait l?objet d?une premier volume. Ce deuxième volume, complément indispensable au premier, rassemble les écrits et exercices de Tenducci (célèbre par ses aventures à Londres), Rauzzini (pour qui Mozart écrivit plusieurs ?uvres), Pacchierotti (admiré dans toute l?Europe) et Crescentini (que Napoléon fit venir en France). Chacun de ces remarquables chanteurs apporte un élément complémentaire : exercices et transpositions de Tenducci, solfeggi de Rauzzini, technique d?ornementation pour Pacchierotti et interprétation (articulation et nuances) pour Crescentini.

The castrati?s art is documented by few printed books with exercices, or treatises. The famous « Porpora?s sheet » (few exercices reputed to lead to high virtuosity) remains lost, even if a late English edition announces the contrary. Only extant are numerous manuscript solfeggi, coposed by Neapolitan masters (Durante, Scarlatti, Leo, Aprile, etc.). In this context, the treatises by Pierfrancesco Tosi (1654-1732) and Giovanni Battista Mancini (1714-1800) are of great importance. We edited them in a first volume. This one is a complement and shows the writings, exercices and solfeggi by Tenducci (famous by his adventures in London), Rauzzini (for whom Mozart composed some works), Pacchierotti (admired in all countries of Europa) and Crescentini (invited in France by Napoléon).
