This edition contains the score of and critical notes to the above works as published in the New Liszt Edition, as well as prefaces in English and German, which provideinformation about all the important issues concerning the genesis and performance rendering. This publication is printed on high quality, durable paper made from renewable raw materials in an environmentally friendly way. In this collection of piano solos, you will find the WORLDÆS FIRST PIANO SOLO ever composed that can be played backwards and forwards and upside downà and sound the SAME! The piece is called ôSOLOSö and is an ambigram and a palindrome. Two variations of ôSOLOSö that are more difficult are added that use the melody of this unusual piece. There is a special piece called ôMirrorö. When held to a mirror it will have the mirror effect and sound very nice the way it looks in the mirror. The collection includes a Palindrome, ôSTATSö which is excellent for sight reading and is beneficial for the eyes as you read it backwards. This collection has a wide variety of pieces suitable for recitals, relaxing, and sight reading. Also included is a special piece titled ôEncoreö, which was composed just for that very reason, to play last, but not least. I used the musical letters in the name of the man that booked me for the concert after he called and requested that I have an encore ready!Every piece was composed from my piano as I heard a melody or tried to put a feeling or thought to music. Every piece has a story. I hope the music in this book speaks to your heart and brings listening pleasure as well as a feeling of love, joy, and peace.I appreciate this opportunity to share my favorite piano solos with you and may they be an inspiration for other composers and fun for students and teachers to perform.Includes access to online audio.

PTER WOLF (1947) studied classical piano and jazz piano at the Bla Bartk Secondary School under Kornl Zemplni, Ferenc Rados and Jnos Gonda. In 2015 he obtained his DLA degree from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with his thesis on jazz arrangements. In 1969 he became the keyboard-player of the band Ex Antiquis. He composed many hits of the 1970s and 1980s as well as scores for popular films and musicals. His virtuosity as an orchestrator was shown in concerts and albums of the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra; he also orchestrated violin pieces for Isaac Stern's ''Kreisler'' CD. In 1995 he was awarded the Fnyes Szabolcs Prize, in 2005 the Erkel Prize, and in 2018 Artisjus's Life Prize. In recent years he has had numerous large-scale compositions premiered by excellent performers: his two piano concertos and his concertos for oboe, clarinet, and violin respectively. About Inventions for Young Pianists, piano teacher Rita Znamenk writes: ''This volume expressly aims at extending the repertoire of 3rd- and 4th-grade primary music students (and, of course, that of the older ones, too). Each of the 23 inventions expands and revolves around a musical idea. The short pieces inspire the children's imagination already with their titles. Teachers and student scan freely choose among pieces which require crossing hands, arpeggios, clusters, polyphony, syncopated rhythm, chromaticism, and pedalling. There are melodies with accompaniment, playing with alternate hands, playing legato and staccato, notes with appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas, jazz accents, and glissandi, too. The composer wrote unusual sound effects into a few pieces for the brave. It's my most sincere wish for young pianists that they find joy in studying Peter Wolf's works, and I encourage my colleagues to include pieces from this volume into their material: maybe students will also become more open to contemporary music through them.''.

Rachmaninoff wrote his well-known piano cycle in 1931, at a time when his great works for piano solo and the piano concertos had already made him very famous. Yet it is by no means the “work of an old manâ€. The composerÂ’s variations on the theme “La folia†(taken from a sonata by Corelli) are like a series of fireworks on the piano. He once drily said to a friend, “All this mad running about is necessary in order to efface the themeâ€. Did Rachmaninoff succeed in silencing “la folia†– i.e. the “madnessâ€? Why not seefor yourself!

Within this work Heller already establishes herself as a composer who possesses and demonstrates a clear sense of form, as well as a feel for creating arcs of tension and contrasts. The work is pianistically challenging, even though it fits the hands well. It requires, in particular, careful listening with regard to the structures and harmonic sequences. This thoroughly entertaining piece of music is set to benefit both up-and-coming musicians and concert pianists, and deserves to be included in the standard repertoire. The piano suite composed in 1956 by the 20 year-old Barbara Heller is a major accomplishment. Within this work Heller already establishes herself as a composer who possesses and demonstrates a clear sense of form, as well as a feel for creating arcs of tension and contrasts. Stylistically, the work belongs to the moderate modernist trend, which arose sometime after Hindemith. However, this piano suite has charms of its own; at times it is the emphatic shaping of phrases, which bring about moments of dissonance and occasionally, it is the harsh and unwilling gestures. The charm of this piece also lies within its deep-rooted earnestness and its frequent seasoning of humour.

Maric) These original piano pieces call for proficiency virtuoso. For concert etudes or for pianistical studies. WPs:1945 Belgrad: Zdenko Marasovic.

Some of the Ten Piano Pieces op. 58 were already successfully performed during the composers lifetime. At a concert in the Solemnity Hall of Helsinki University on 10 October 1911, two of the pieces (Scherzino No. 2, Serenade No. 9) had to be repeated because of the roar of applause.. Both Sibelius and Mrs. Sigrid Sundgren-Schneevoigt were called forth with storming applause. The reviews were good, describing the pieces as the most ingenious piano compositions reduced to a small form, that have been published in Finland.
