Composed by Gottfried August Homilius. Edited by Uwe Wolf. This edition: Paperbound, Complete edition. Gottfried August Homilius - Selected Works. Passionskantate I Ein Lammlein Ga 4. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Lent and Passiontide. Single Part, Organ. HoWV I.2. 60 pages. Duration 95 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 37.104/49. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3710449). ISBN 9790007091347. Language: German. He was without argument our greatest church composer, wrote the lexicographer E. L. Gerber a few years after Homilius's death in 1785. As a result of the destruction of the Kreuzkirche during the Seven Years War, the longtime Kreuzkantor, a pupil of Bach, performed his professional musical duties primarily at the Frauenkirche in Dresden. The Passionskantate was well received and widely disseminated during the 18th and 19th centuries: Thanks to its popularity it was published in 1775 by Breitkopf as a full score - a rare honor, accorded to only one other Passion in the 18th century (Graun's Tod Jesu). The text describes the events of the Passion from a very personal point of view: The story focuses less on the actual events, then upon the feelings of the observers of these events. The subjective nature of the narrative is reflected in a very dramatically marked style of recitative, which presents a charming contrast to the expressive choral writing and the melodically accented arias. With the release of a new music editions and a SACD/CD the Passionskantate can now be rediscovered.. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Hans Dieter Clausen. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. Halle Handel Edition (HHA) Series I, Voume 18, Nos. 1 2. Complete edition, Score. Composed 1743. HWV 57. Duration 3 hours. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA04099_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA04099). ISBN 9790006550111. 33 x 25.7 cm inches. Text Language: English. Preface: Hans Dieter Clausen. Text: Newburgh Hamilton. Handel composed Samson directly after completing the Messiah. After its premiere in 1743 in the Covent Garden Theatre in London, the work rapidly became one of the composerâ??s most successful oratorios alongside Esther and Judas Maccabaeus. This probably had as much to do with the popular Old Testament story of the libretto as with Handelâ??s masterly shaping of the arias and choruses.
By including some movements in the appendix, this edition makes it possible for the first time to perform the work in its original 1741 version. The edition is based on the complete edition volume of the Halle Handel Edition (BA 4099), offering the complete music text of the oratorio for the first time.

SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.3116414 Cantata for the 13th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Frieder Rempp. Arranged by Paul Horn. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Basso continuo. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Whitsun. Single Part, basso continuo. Composed 1725. BWV 164. 12 pages. Duration 17 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.164/14. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3116414). ISBN 9790007209056. Text language: German/English. This six-movement cantata was performed for the first time on 26 August 1725 in Leipzig. The text was written by Bach's Weimar cantata poet Salomon Franck and had been published earlier in 1715 in his collection Evangelisches Andachts-Opffer. Here, Bach bases his work around the form of the Weimar cantatas which take their texts from Franck's printed collection (BWV 132, 152, 161-163, 165): movements 1-5 are performed by vocal soloists, whilst only the final chorus is given to the chorus. The key concepts of the text are Barmherzigkeit [compassion], Erbarmen [mercy] and wahre Christenliebe [true Christian love]; the chamber music arrangement of the cantata corresponds with this. The two arias for tenor and alto, and the duet for soprano and bass do not contain da capo sections, but repeat the entire text in a condensed form. The instruments do not contrast as a rule, but are treated as a string group (movements 1, 4), duetting (movement 3), and as full unison (movement 5). What is remarkable in all three movements is the thematic linking of the instrumental ritornello parts with the vocal parts through which Bach achieves a kind of unity of form. German title: Die Weihnachtsgeschichte. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Christmas. Choral Score. 4 pages. Duration 30 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 10.008/05. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1000805). ISBN 9790007015879. Language: German. The Christmas story by the Celle-born Baroque composer Arnold Melchior Brunckhorst (d. 1725) follows the account of the Christmas story in St Luke's Gospel. The text is set in full in the composition, with the biblical text enriched in a few arias and choruses by the addition of free poetry. The demands on the musicians are moderate; the scoring is manageable with 2 trumpets, but at the same time it is really festive! Just 30 minutes in length, the Christmas story by Brunckhorst is also very suitable for performance in church services. Soli SATB, Coro SATB, 2 Pfte, [Timp] - Grade 3 SKU: CA.2709246 Arrangement for soli, choir and 2 pianos and timpani ad lib (arr. S. Bartmann). Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by Sebastian Bartmann. Set of Orchestra Parts. WAB 26. Duration 45 minutes. Carus Verlag #2709246. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2709246). ISBN 9790007310868. Key: D minor. Latin. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, transcriptions of large (choral) symphonic works for two pianos were extremely popular, as they enabled a large audience to get to know classical compositions in an age before recorded music. In many cases, world-famous pieces were first performed in such a version ââ¬â including Brucknerââ¬â¢s Te Deum. The Stuttgart composer, pianist and experienced piano-duo performer Sebastian Bartmann was commissioned by the Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg Ochsenhausen to newly arrange Brucknerââ¬â¢s Te Deum and the Mass in D minor for soloists, choir, and two pianos. A timpani part (ad libitum) provides additional color. The arrangements are based on the original Carus editions. The vocal scores and choral scores of the original version can also be used. While Brucknerââ¬â¢s symphonic approach becomes evident for the first time in the Mass in D minor from 1864, the work does not place the same high demands on the performers as the two later masses. This arrangement for soloists, choir and 2 pianos has an air of transparency, rather like a work of chamber music.. It was first performed on Good Friday, 1826 in Kassel. It is based on the theologically most significant portions of the Revelations of John in the New Testament, whose visions of death and eternity Spohr vividly portrayed in music. The work represents an important enrichment to the repertoire of the oratorio, especially suitable for the end of the church year. It is captivating on account of its masterful instrumentation, excellent use of chromaticism, large-scale solo recitatives and accessible choral passages filled with heartfelt sensitivity on the one hand, and exciting drama on the other. SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 recorders f1, 2 viola da gamba, basso continuo (+)
SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 recorders f1, 2 viola da gamba, basso continuo SKU: CA.3110611 Actus tragicus. Trauermusik. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Peter Thalheimer. Arranged by Paul Horn. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. German title: Actus Tragicus. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Mourning, death. Single Part, Viola da gamba 1. Composed 1707/1708. BWV 106. 4 pages. Duration 23 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.106/11. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3110611). ISBN 9790007207021. Key: F major. Language: German/English. The Actus tragicus or Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit BWV 106 remains one of Bach's best-known and most admired works, one which continues to resonate to this day - a work of genius such as even great masters seldom achieve (Alfred Durr). The cantata is one of the earliest known vocal works by Johann Sebastian Bach. It was written during his time at Muhlhausen, probably in 1707, when Bach took up the position of organist at the Divi Blasii Church. A possible occasion for its composition may have been the funeral of the mayor of Muhlhausen, Adolph Strecker. The short, slow Sonatina with two recorders, two gambas and continuo gets the listener into the mood of the character of the cantata. This instrumental combination is unique in Bach's vocal output, but could derive from a central German tradition. This new edition is a critical-practical edition which combines both the latest discoveries in Bach research with a detailed Critical Report as well as addressing current questions on performance practice. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3110600. $4.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Advent, Christmas. Single Part, Violin 2. Composed 1724. BWV 62. 12 pages. Duration 23 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.062/12. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3106212). ISBN 9790007043629. Key: B minor. Language: German/English. Text: Luther, Martin. Text: Martin Luther. Bach's second cantata starting with the text Come now, God's chosen saviour (II) BWV 62 was first performed in 1724 on the 1st Advent Sunday (which, at that time, was the only Advent Sunday with church music in Leipzig) and belongs to the annual cycle of chorale cantatas. As was usual for chorale cantatas, the unknown librettist used the first and last verses of Martin Luther's hymn verbatim for the opening chorus and the concluding chorale but adapted the texts of the inner verses. After two contrasting arias - the one dance-like, the second almost heroic - an almost enraptured accompagnato (Wir ehren diese Herrlichtkeit, und nahen nun zu deiner Krippen), in which the soprano and contralto mostly sing in parallel thirds and sixths, leads to a simple concluding chorale.
