Soloists, Mixed choir, Orchestra SKU: BA.BA10726-01 Oratorio in three ...(+)
Soloists, Mixed choir, Orchestra SKU: BA.BA10726-01 Oratorio in three parts. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Michael Pacholke. This edition: Complete edition. Linen. Complete edition, Score. HWV 46. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA10726-01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA10726-01). ISBN 9790006575596. 33 x 26 cm inches. Text Language: Italian. Preface: Pacholke, Michael. In the brief half-year period from August 14, 1736, to January 27, 1737, Georg Friedrich Handel achieved an unprecedented level of productivity in his opera compositions, creating three operas. Additionally, in March 1737, he also composed a largely new oratorio titled â??Il trionfo del Tempo e della Verità â? (â??The Triumph of Time and Truthâ?) HWV 46b. The libretto of this oratorio closely corresponds to that of the oratorio â??La Bellezza ravveduta nel trionfo del Tempo e del Disingannoâ? (â??Beauty Reconciled in the Triumph of Time and Enlightenmentâ?) HWV 46a written in 1707. With â??La Bellezza ravvedutaâ?, Handel composed an allegorical and particularly dramatic oratorio right at the beginning of his oratorio compositions. In this work, there is no chorus inclined towards reflection. Not only do the four allegorical figures, Bellezza (Beauty), Piacere (Pleasure), Tempo (Time), and Disinganno (Enlightenment), listen to each other and react to the ideas presented by the others, but this prevailing dramatic principle of dispute is also found in the recitatives.
In 1737, when reworking the oratorio material as â??Il trionfo del Tempo e della Verità â?, Handel approached the task pragmatically. He needed a new non-dramatic work to fulfill the eveningâ??s program for his audience at the Covent Garden Theatre during the fasting season when theatrical performances were prohibited. Although he had excellent Italian vocal soloists, notorious for their pronunciation in Handelâ??s English oratorios and who naturally preferred singing in Italian, Handel found a solution. It was evident to Handel that, in response to the ban on performances of his Italian operas during the fasting season of 1737, he should promptly create a new oratorio in the Italian language but following the three-part â??Englishâ? oratorio form that he had developed in â??Estherâ? HWV 50b in 1732. Unlike in Rome in 1707, he had access to a chorus in London in 1737, and the English oratorio, with its substantial choral sections, a preference for concert-like rather than dramatic composition, and frequent inclusion of organ concertos loosely related to the narrative, was already established.
The new volume of the HHA includes the original version of the 1737 premiere as well as all the surviving early and later versions (the latter being exceptional highlights) of individual musical pieces from â??Il trionfo del Tempo e della Verità â?.

Soli AAB, Coro SSA(A)T(T)B(B), 2 Ob, 2 Tr, 2 (3) Vl, Va, Bc - Level 3 SKU: CA.5527919 O be joyful. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Uwe Wolf. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1713. HWV 279. Duration 17 minutes. Carus Verlag #5527900. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5527919). ISBN 9790007293062. German/English. Handel's Utrecht Jubilate HWV 279 enthralled London audiences right from its first performance, and it continues to do so today in concert halls and churches all over the world, thanks to the wide range of occasions when it can be performed. It was performed for the first time in a festive service on 7 July 1713 at St. Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the Peace marking the end of the twelve year-long War of the Spanish Succession. The Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate were Handel's first sacred works in English and important milestones at the beginning of his London career. The edition is based on Handel's autograph (which unfortunately does not survive) and on a copy from Handel's circle, which in some respects provides more information than the autograph and contains important details for this edition. In 1717 Handel revised the Jubilate in a smaller scoring for the ensemble at Cannons (HWV 246) and preceded it with a two-part Sinfonia which is also reproduced in the Appendix to this edition. The chorus is mainly scored in four parts, and is in eight parts in just one short movement. In two other movements the soprano part divides. The second alto solo part can also be sung by a high tenor. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.5527900. $190.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Duration 2 hours, 15 minutes. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA08708_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA08708-01). ISBN 9790006537846. 33 x 27 cm inches. Text Language: French. Preface: Prévost, Paul / Macdonald, Hugh. Text: Leterrier, Eugène / Vanloo, Albert. WithL'Etoile, Chabrier composed a light-hearted opera which has increasingly enjoyed revivals in recent years. The plot is introduced by King Ouf I who offers his subjects an execution every year on his birthday. Unfortunately the problem now arises that no crime has recently been committed which might serve as a reason for an execution. Finally, he finds a would-be victim in the young Lazuli. However, according to predictions by the astrologer Siroco, Lazuli's fate is closely linked to the king's own life. The comic opera is further bolstered by a story of mistaken identities which involves a great deal of diplomacy, a love story and a large number of refined, yet catchy melodies. Chabrier was a master of the sensitive and complicated art of musical comedy, a field where he can be compared in equal measure to Offenbach, Rossini and Mozart.
This vocal score is based on the full score edited by Hugh Macdonald which is published as part of the seriesL'Opera francais. - Authoritative Urtext edition based on the seriesL'Opera francais - Original French text with a German singing translation - Comprehensive foreword (Ger/Eng/Fr)

ZWV 12, an expansive and unusually richly scored work, marks a highlight in the uvre of Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679-1745). It was composed in 1729 while he was working at the Dresden court.
The principal source of this first edition is the damaged autograph score which had long been kept under lock and key. Passages missing because of its damaged condition have been supplemented using secondary sources or reconstructed by Václav Luks, clearly marked as such in the musical text.
The first performance to use the present new edition took place in the summer of 2014, when it was performed at the Utrecht Early Music Festival. A CD recording by Collegium 1704, conducted by Václav Luks, has been released by the label Accent (ACC 24301).

Soloists, Mixed choir (SATB), Orchestra (Soprano solo, Alto solo, Tenor solo, Bass solo, Mixed choir (SATB), Orchestra) SKU: BA.BA11310-90 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Edited by Michael Ostrzyga. This edition: urtext edition. Paperback. New Completion. Vocal Score. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA11310_90. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA11310-90). ISBN 9790006569267. 27 x 19 cm inches. Text Language: Latin. This publication offers a source-critical edition of Mozartâ??s fragmentary â??Requiemâ? as well as an alternative to the traditional SüÃ?mayr version. It makes it possible to perform 1) the fragment, identified in print in both the score and the parts, 2) the authentic sections left incomplete by Mozart, now in a stylistically appropriate orchestration, and 3) those sections missing entirely in the fragment, newly added in Mozartâ??s idiom taking into account historical additions by SüÃ?mayr and Eybler.
When completing the fragment, the editor drew on comprehensive comparative and analytical studies of Mozartâ??s church style and compositional workmanship. The influence of Handel and Bach manifested in his final years, particularly in the â??Requiemâ? fragment, is taken into account in those sections requiring completion or fresh composition.
At two points readers may choose between alternative movements (or sections), since proceeding from SüÃ?mayrâ??s historical version, two divergent options cannot be weighed against each other but each one may well reflect Mozartâ??s intentions: the â??Lacrimosaâ? may end with or without â??Amenâ? fugue, and the â??Sanctusâ? may begin in the customary D major or in D minor. Above all, this makes it possible to retain the B-flat major â??Hosannaâ? from SüÃ?mayrâ??s autograph, a movement which, until now, has not been appreciated as compositionally flawless.
â?¢ Scholarly-critical edition of the â??Requiemâ? fragment â?¢ With performance material for presentation of 1) the fragment, 2) a version with completions of the authentic Mozart sections or 3) a full completion consistent with Mozartâ??s musical idiom â?¢ Missing sections were completed by drawing from other fragmentary sacred works by Mozart â?¢ Added or completed sections incorporate influences from Bach and Handel already detectable in the fragment â?¢ Alternative performance options for the â??Lacrimosaâ?, â??Sanctusâ? and â??Benedictusâ? â?¢ Easy-to-play piano reduction â?¢ Extensive foreword (Ger/Eng) on the workâ??s history, reception and modern completions, with analytical stylistic critique â?¢ Detailed Critical Commentary (Eng), partly available on the Bärenreiter website â?¢ Tried and tested on many occasions, e.g. at Harvard University, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Monadnock Music Festival (New Hampshire), in Salt Lake City (Utah), as well as in radio broadcasts (NDR, SWR, WDR) and CD recordings with Concerto Köln, Chorwerk Ruhr and Florian Helgath (â??Le Disque classique du jourâ? from francemusique.fr and three nominations for Opus Klassik 2021 in the categories â??Ensembleâ?, â??Choral Recordingâ? and â??Editorial Achievementâ?)

Handel composed his only oratorio in German between 1716 and 1717 basing it on the then popular Passion text by Barthold Heinrich Brockes entitledDer fur die Sunde der Welt gemarterte und sterbende Jesus(The Story of Jesus, Suffering and Dying for the Sins of the World). Handel's affinity to opera is evident in the musical realisation of the emphatic text as he creates a synthesis between traditional Protestant church music and the depiction of human passion in the manner of opera seria.
This edition is based on the corresponding volume of theHalle Handel Edition(BA 4021). The full score, parts and vocal score have been newly engraved. The piano reduction has been simplified and brought up to today's standards, thus making it much more manageable to play.

Innovative practice aids, Sacred vocal music. Vocal score. HWV 278. Duration 24 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 55.278/03. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5527803). ISBN 9790007188528. Language: English. Handel's Utrecht Te Deum HWV 278 enthralled London audiences right from its first performance, and it continues to do so today in concert halls and churches all over the world. It was performed for the first time in a festive service on 13 July 1713 in St. Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the Peace marking the end of the twelve year-long War of the Spanish Succession in 1713. The Te Deum was the first commission by the English royal house and was also Handel's first sacred work in the English language. For Handel the Utrecht Te Deum was an important milestone at the beginning of his London career. The composition brought him an annual pension from Queen Anne and helped him to establish himself as a composer of prestigious music for the English royal family. Four further settings of the Ambrosian hymn of praise by Handel followed, including the equally popular Dettingen Te Deum (Carus 55.238). The six soloists required can in practice be reduced to four, and the Te Deum does not contain any stand-alone arias. The chorus is scored in five parts in a few movements (SSATB), with the concluding doxology beginning in double-choir scoring (SST/AATB). For this frequently-performed work Carus offers a musical text reflecting the latest scholarly discoveries. The Critical Report contains information on all the important facts about the work in a practicable, compact form. A detailed foreword contains insights into the creation of the work and its reception. The vocal score, chorus score, and orchestral parts provide for the needs of practical performance; these are complemented by carus music, the choir app for practising the choral parts, as well as the Carus Choir Coach practice CDs and a Vocal Score XL in reader-friendly large print. $22.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Preface: Sylvie Bouissou. Text: Louis Fuzelier. The main body of the new edition of Les Indes galantes, published in Opera Omnia Rameau (OOR IV.2, 7), restores the version authorised by Rameau in 1736. This basic editorial decision has made it possible to present a fully coherent and authenticated reading of the work (after the adjustments from the earliest performances). All other versions before and after 1736 are gathered together in 19 complements.
Sylvie Bouissou's new edition differs markedly from previous modern editions and all existing recordings. With its complements she does justice to the performer's need for Rameau's various revisions while finally making accessible a version actually authorised by Rameau. For the first time it is presented in its complete stylistic and dramatic context.
