First violin, second violin, viola, cello (1. Violin, 2. Violin, Viola, Violoncello) SKU: BA.BA10927 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Edited by Fabien Guilloux. This edition: urtext edition. In a folder. Barenreiter Urtext. Set of parts. Opus 112. 19/19/19/19 pages. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA10927_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA10927). ISBN 9790006566259. 31 x 24.3 cm inches. Key: E minor. Ludwig van Beethoven’s overpowering legacy caused many subsequent composers to avoid writing string quartets at all. Saint-Saëns was no exception in this respect and waited until 1899 and 1918 to produce his two contributions to the genre. Couched in classicism, they relate in form and style to early 19th-century French quartets and to a titan of the genre: Joseph Haydn.
Saint-Saëns’ string quartets appear here for the first time in a scholarly-critical edition. It is also the first edition to contain the original version of the Finale to String Quartet No. 2 in score and parts. An informative Introduction is included in the study score to complete this volume of important French chamber music, based on the Urtext from “Camille Saint-Saëns – Complete Edition of the Instrumental Worksâ€.

String quartet (2V,Va,Vc) SKU: BA.TP00932 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Edited by Jonathan Del Mar. This edition: urtext edition. Paperback. Barenreiter Urtext. Study score. Opus 132. Baerenreiter Verlag #TP00932_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.TP00932). ISBN 9790006203130. 22.5 x 16.5 cm inches. Key: A minor. Preface: Donat, Misha. After years of several personal and creative crises, the last two years of Beethoven's life were marked by an irrepressible creative urge that was directed almost exclusively towards the string quartet genre.
Of all these late works, it is the Quartet in A minor op. 132 that most impressively addresses the overcoming of the depression of the past years. The middle of the five movements is aCanzona di ringraziamentoentitled:Holy Song of Thanksgiving of a recovered person to the deity in the Lydian key.
In this movement a slow introduction is followed by the heading:Feeling renewed strength. Due to the middle movement full ofdivine power, this string quartet is certainly one of Beethoven's most emotional compositions.
For this new edition of the Quartet op. 132, Beethoven specialist Jonathan Del Mar consulted the autograph as well as several sets of parts corrected by Beethoven, enabling him to correct countless inconsistencies and unconvincing editorial decisions of previous editions.

String Quartet (2vl,va,vc) SKU: BR.PB-5622-07 Urtext. Composed by Joachim Raff. Edited by Severin Kolb and Stefan Konig. Chamber music; Softbound. Partitur-Bibliothek (Score Library). With his first String Quartet in D minor, op. 77, composed in 1855, the native Swiss composer Joachim Raff (1822-1882) bid a brilliant farewell to Weimar. Romantic period. Study Score. 176 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #PB 5622-07. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.PB-5622-07). ISBN 9790004215197. 6.5 x 9 inches. With his first String Quartet in D minor, op. 77, composed in 1855, the native Swiss composer Joachim Raff bid a brilliant farewell to Weimar. He had been there as Franz Liszt's assistant since 1850 and had made a name for himself in the city's art scene - now he embarked on new paths. He composed his second Quartet in A major, op. 90, already in 1857 in Wiesbaden, the spa town that was to become his home for 21 years. The two quartets are unequivocal works: orchestrally-conceived, full of energetic vigor, and at times uncompromisingly modern. They confidently continue the Beethoven tradition and attest at the same time to Raff's intensive confrontation with Richard Wagner's music during the Weimar years. In his chamber music, the composer wanted to achieve progress in an inherently historical way and to ground the individual substance in existing forms, as he told the Viennese violinist Josef Hellmesberger, who launched opus 77. The quartets, first published in 1860/62, found illustrious interpreters, among them, the Muller brothers' renowned ensemble, to which opus 90 was also dedicated, and Joseph Joachim. In collaboration with the Joachim-Raff-Archiv Lachen (CH)
Some eighteen years elapsed between Raff's first counted String Quartet op. 77 and his Quartets Nos. 6-8 op. 192, combined as one work. As such, Raff parted with the weighty single opus in quartet composition - without, however, sacrificing musical quality. $55.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks | | |
