Trumpet parts in both B flat and E flat simplified piano part and a free CD including piano backing tracks and orchestral performance extracts.Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) composed this concerto in 1803 for the keyed trumpet which had been developed by Anton Weidinger (1767-1852). Weidinger gave its first performance on New Year's Day 1804. Originally composed in the key of E it is more commonly played in Eb. The keyed trumpet was the first type of trumpet which could play chromatically but the invention was not a huge success: it suffered from a poor quality of sound. In the early 19th century the invention of the valve rendered the keyed trumpetobsolete.This edition is intended to be more user-friendly than the others currently available: there is a much easier (and dare I say more stylistic) piano accompaniment - any doubling of the solo part has been removed voicing simplified and my premise has been to imagine what it might have been before it was orchestrated rather than trying to cram in every last piece of orchestral detail.Suggested cuts in the piano part have been indicated giving a short introduction to each movement perfect for auditions recitals or exams. However the bar numbers still tally with the longer original versions which are included should they be required. The dynamics and articulation which I have added incorporate the weight of opinion in current editions and recordings offering more guidance than 'scholarly' editions without being overprescriptive.There is an appendix with suggested interpretation of trills and ornaments. Listening to as many different recordings as possible is the best way to assimilate good trills.The accompanying CD provides piano accompaniments and observes the suggested cuts. Joby Talbot's Trumpet Concerto Desolation Wilderness was commissioned by the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. First performed on 28th October 2006 by the Royal LiverpoolPhilharmonic Orchestra at The Philharmonic Hall Liverpool with Alison Balsom (to whom the work is dedicated) as soloist and JoAnn Falletta conductor. The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra gave the Finnish premiére performances on23rd and 24th November 2006.The Piano reduction of Desolation Wilderness includes Trumpet parts in B flat and C. (Suitable for advanced players).'In Early November 2005 my family and some friends visited thehigh Sierra Nevada in Northern California. As on former trips to the area I was struck by the strange and disarming contrast between the bright sunshine perfect blue sky and warm mountain air of the Sierran autumn; and theoccasional icy chill - sudden drops of temperature when the sun vanished behind the mountains momentary glimpses through the trees of distant snow clouds over the highest peaks. Nowhere was this dichotomy more apparent than inthe vast area of forests lakes and mountains known as Desolation Wilderness. Here the twisted shapes of the aspens are testament to the destructive power of winter. Sure enough that night the first snows fell and the highmountain passes we'd just crossed were closed till spring.

Composed by Henri Tomasi Tryptique can be played by a Bb or a C Trumpet with a Piano accompaniment. This piece is divided into three parts of approximately 2 pages each: 1. Scherzo 2. Largo and 3. Saltarelle. The Saltarelle part includes the use of the sourdine and has numerous accidental alterations. With a high level of difficulty this piece is ideal for contests and recitals.Henri Tomasi also composed a variety of concerti for Alto Saxophone and for Trombone as well as some ballades.
