Also known as Variations on a Theme of Corelli, The Art of the Bow is widely considered the first great method for violin. Aside from being invaluable to the development of technique, the variations which include piano accompaniment also serve as rich and rewarding solo material for recitals. This edition by Heifetz protege, Endre Granat, is based on comparison of the first three published editions and features meticulous attention to the details of bowing and fingering. Included in the publication is a letter from Tartini to his then 14-year-old violin student, Maddalena Lombardini, detailing an important lesson to violin performers which contains examples from this very imaginitive and musical set of variations.

Sarasate's concert career began at age seventeen after he was awarded the coveted Premier Prix from the Paris Conservatoire for both violin and composition. After his London debut, the playwright and music critique George Bernard Shaw wrote in his review that Sarasate 'left criticism gasping miles behind him.' Shaw also declared that there were many composers of music for the violin; there were but few composers like Sarasate for violin music. His vast concert repertory included many works written for and dedicated to him by Bruch, Saint-Saens, Wieniawski, Dvorak and many others. He performed his own works in an inimitable, brilliant and charming manner. His contemporaries marveled at his perfect intonation and stunning rhythmic acuity. His bowing technique was the pride of the French School of violin playing. The works presented in this volume are among his finest. All are based on Spanish popular music and are a virtuosic set for violin and piano. They are and have been in virtually every great violinist's repertory. They are also exceptionally popular as encore pieces, as well as favorites of budding virtuosos.

25 easy pieces from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, playable in the first three finger patterns in the first position, forviolin pupils from the second year of learning. Apart from lesser known works, this edition also contains many popular pieces, such as themes from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Handel's Fireworks Music and Water Music, Mozart's Magic Flute or Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.This volume's intention is to grant access to classical masterpieces of concert literature with the help of such easy arrangements and spread the joy of classical music. The approach to the pieces is made easier by the accompanying audio tracks which, on the one hand, offers the opportunity to listen to and get to know the pieces beforehand, and, on the other hand, thanks to the separate piano accompaniments, provides first experience in ensemble playing and conveys the vivid joy of music-making. When the tracks were recorded by Prof. Benjamin Bergmann, violin, and Leonid Dorfman, piano, they deliberately decided in favour of moderate tempos to make it easier for the young violinists to play along with the piano part. A treasure trove for auditions at schools and music schools.
