Frederick John Easthope Martin (1882-1925) was a British composer and organist. He studied Piano Organ Harmony and Composition at Trinity College of Music in London. Best known for Evensong which has beenarranged for Piano Organ and even Orchestra the vast majority of his works were actually for Voice. Come To The Fair is probably his best known song; it was first published in 1917 as the first inthe volume Three More Songs Of The Fair. The text was written by Helen Taylor. It has been transposed to the key of G making it suitable for Medium Voices. Ideal for any school group this song of greatgusto and celebration will enliven any choral programme!

As a work of historic interest of the period The March of the Women is an essential work.British composer Ethel Smyth was a prolific important composer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1910 she joined the Women’sSocial and Political Union for whom she wrote this anthem. It was taken up and sung everywhere including Holloway Prison where Smyth and other suffragettes had been imprisoned for breaking windows and other acts of politicaldisorder. When Sir Thomas Beecham visited her there he found the women marching around the inner yard and singing while Smyth directed the impromptu Chorus with her toothbrush.

Purcell Society Volume 25.This volume contains all Purcell's secular solo songs which have no known association with the theatre. It also includes those songs which though mainly for solo voice end with a short duet section. Hilarion Eslava (1807-1878) was a Spanish priest musician and pedagogue. Although he was a prolific and well-known composer in his own time today he is primarily remembered for his 1846 work Metodo De Solfeo a successful Solfège Method which has been in constant use all over the world for more than 150 years.
