The symposium brought together 288 participants from 17 nations and six continents to learn of each other’s work, establish collaborations and professional networks, and shape new directions for research in this important area of music education in Williamsburg, Virginia, from February 18-21, 2015. The four keynote addresses and 37 papers published in this volume document music assessment practice and the measurement and evaluation of music learning across the world in local, state, and national contexts at all levels. The attendees also attended special work sessions to discuss the key questions of the symposium, and their discussions are summarized in this collection. As music educators across the world come to terms with increased expectations for accountability of learning in music, the scholars and practitioners who have contributed to this volume provide insight to guide their work.About the EditorsTimothy S. SATB choir SKU: ST.CN8P Composed by Edmund Jolliffe. ChoralNow. This PRINTED version is available to purchase as a regular sheet music title for delivery by post. Octavo. Stainer & Bell Ltd. #CN8P. Published by Stainer & Bell Ltd. (ST.CN8P). ISBN 9790220224652. Edmund Jolliffe's setting of the communion antiphon for the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass may be sung to equally powerful effect either liturgically, or as the focus of a collective expression of remembrance, or as a moving addition to any choral concert programme. From the opening revelation of eternal light the music moves steadily through hushed litanies and invocations to a resounding climax. A contemporary tonality of richly annotated chords illuminates these traditional words with a modern sound and sense. This is a piece that singers will enjoy for its discipline of sustained lines and beautifully balanced sonorities no less than for its eloquent statement of an eternal hope. $5.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Harp and string orchestra SKU: M7.DOHR-88809 Composed by Adrian Connell. Sheet music. Score. 28 pages. Duration 15'. MDS (Music Distribution Services) #DOHR 88809. Published by MDS (Music Distribution Services) (M7.DOHR-88809). ISBN 9790202098097. On the workWritten originally for swing band in the 1970's in a work called A Minor Excursion I chose a rather bland tune for this suite. What originally brought this work alive was the improvisation and variation of the tune. Therefore this suite is a set of variations on the opening movement and I did this in homage to the original work. For me it's the following movements which make the work. The Prelude is just a simple statement of the theme with a small middle eight section which hints at the work's origin as a jazz piece. The rest of the movements grow from the opening and explores the Prelude in various ways. This is really jazz meets symphonic development. The theme can be clearly heard in all the movements but as the work reaches its conclusion the theme becomes more and more fragmented. The first performance was given on 20 November 1993 at Saint Edmund's Church, Village Way, Beckenham, Kent by the Bromley Oecumenical Singers and Orchestra, conducted by Tomas Creagh-Fuller. | Muero Porque No Muero Choral SATB - Intermediate Laurendale Associates
SATB choir, SB soli (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1295 Comp...(+)
SATB choir, SB soli (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1295 Composed by Edmund Najera. Romantic. Octavo. Laurendale Associates #CH-1295. Published by Laurendale Associates (MN.CH-1295). Spanish. Muero Porque No Muero was written for the Gregg Smith Singers on the occasion of their fortieth anniversary. The text is by St. Teresa d'Avila. Her meditations and poetry are rife with ambiguous language at once sacred and profane creating a unique sensuality. Consider the sexual implications of the phrase I die because I do not die bearing in mind the medieval double meaning of the phrase to die. The principal theme of the music is presented in fragments emerging over stark harmonies. As the texture grows thicker with Spanish-influenced flourishes and polytonal accompaniment the full melodic episode rises only to subside once again into the complaint: Muero porque no muero. $2.75 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
