Chamber Music Piano SKU: PR.510079380 Grosses Konzertstück über Mendelssohns Lieder ohne Worte and Franz Schuberts Grosse Fantasie. Composed by Franz Liszt Felix Mendelssohn. Collection - Full. Editio Musica Budapest #510-07938. Published by Editio Musica Budapest (PR.510079380). Composed in 1834, Liszt's Grand duo is based on material from three pieces from the first book (op. 19b) of Mendelssohn's Songs without Words (no. 1 in E major, no. 6 in G minor, and no. 3 in A major). While Liszt made an almost literal transcription of the first piece, he gave the second and third pieces a much freer arrangement, in the style of concert paraphrases. The large-scale concert piece was premiered by Liszt and Chopin on Christmas Day 1834 in a salon in Paris. The Grand duo was not published in Liszt's lifetime, and has survived as a draft.Schubert's Fantasy in C major (also known as the Wanderer Fantasy) was a defining musical experience for the young Liszt. He arranged this masterpiece of Romantic piano literature for piano and orchestra in 1851, at the beginning of his Weimar period, and it was premiered by Julius Egghard in Vienna in December of that year. By 1855, Liszt had transcribed this arrangement for two pianos, because it was played on 22 October 1855 at a concert held in Weimar in honour of his birthday. With the version for piano and orchestra, Liszt attuned the fantasy to the requirements of the concert hall, reinforcing the orchestral effects inherent in Schubert's composition. His aim with the two-piano version was to achieve a similarly grand effect in spaces too small for an orchestra. The arrangement for piano and orchestra appeared in print in 1857, followed by the two-piano version in 1862.This volume comes complete with a detailed preface in English, German, and Hungarian containing new research findings, several manuscript facsimiles, and a critical report in English. $187.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Brass Band and Cornet Solo - Grade 2 SKU: BT.AMP-166-130 Based on the hymn tune Dear Lord and Father of Mankind. Composed by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. Arranged by Philip Sparke. Debut Series. Solo & Concerto. Score Only. Composed 2006. 16 pages. Anglo Music Press #AMP 166-130. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-166-130). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918) is mostly remembered for the marvellous melodies of his hymn tunes, such as Jerusalem and Repton. The latter first appeared in Parry’s oratorio Judith and was adapted as a hymn tune after the composer’s death. This fantastic cornet solo will give your section leader a real chance to shine.

From a composite text derived from Psalms 148 and 150 and a 19th Century hymn tune by Charles Hubert Hasting Parry, Hal Hopson has fashioned a grand, festive anthem of praise to the creator. The vocal parts are very manageable (much of the piece is unison - only the 2nd stanza and the final cadence are in parts), and the additional instrumental resources, while not required, will enhance the effect of grandeur that Mr. Hopson intends. Arranged by Michael Brand. Band Music. Pioneer Band Series. Score only. Duration 2:15. Published by G & M Brand Music Publishers (CN.S11271). Touted as Britain's second national anthem, this stately tune by C. Hubert H. Parry transcribes beautifully for wind band and would be perfect for concert or festival settings.
By the late 19th century Charles Hubert Parry was probably the most influential figure in English music. His works were performed at all the major festivals and as Director of the Royal College of Music, London, he founded a tradition of teaching form which many of the finest British composers benefitted. Much of his music nowadays in scarcely performed but some works have retained their popularity and none more than his setting of Blake's Jerusalem, published in 1916 and instantly taken up as an anthem during the First World War. Today it rivals Land of Hope and Glory in expressing the spirit of England in music. $13.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

It takes a historico-critical approach and seeks to document the history of the works and writings by shedding light on their transformations, thus identifying the various versions as witnesses of evolving aesthetic and historical positions. Eislers complete oeuvre (only a limited number of his works had penetrated the publics awareness up until the 1990s) first became the object of an editorial undertaking when the Eisler - Gesammelte Werke (EGW) was founded by Nathan Notowicz. The major upheavals that transformed society and musical aesthetics during the first half of the 20th century also profoundly affected the life of Hanns Eisler, as well as his compositions and writings.
