Composer and organist, Joseph Bonnet (1884-1944) is considered one of the most major French pipe organ players. It is no surprise, therefore, that his Concert Variations for Organ are very well informed. Following his studies at the Paris Conservatoire, Bonnet took over as concert organist at the institution. Concert Variations for Organ was compiled in 1906, soon after his graduation. The work begins with a helpful index of the organ registrations and performance directions. Concert Variations begins with a virtuosic, cadenza-like theme in E minor. Following this, four variations are heard, all containing contrast in organ sound, tonality and exploited melody and rhythm. For all advanced, aspiring organists, Bonnet's Concert Variations is an essential addition to the repertoire.

Felix-Alexandre Guilmant-Amédée (Boulogne-sur-Mer, March 12, 1837 - Meudon, March 29, 1911) was a French composer and organist.
Like many other composers, he was very talented on a young age, he was 12 years when he was playing organ smoothly. He studied with Lemmens with Charles-Marie Widor and Gigout. Between 1871 and 1901 he the leading man in the Paris organ scenery, along with his fellow students, later on he teached at the Paris Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique, inter alia, Joseph Bonnet and Marcel Dupre. Known are his organ sonatas, which are equivalent to the famous organ symphonies of Widor.
His work was very popular.
Also knownunder the title Morceau Symphonique, Opus 88.

Zoals zoveel andere componisten was ook hij op vrij jonge leeftijd al zeer begaafd, hij was12 jaar toen hij al vlot orgel speelde. Hij studeerde bij Lemmens samen met Charles Marie Widor en Gigout. Tussen 1871 en 1901 gaf hij de leiding aan de Parijse orgelwereld, samen met met zijn mede-studenten, later gaf hij zelf lesaan het Parijse Conservatoire national supérieur de musique, onder andere aan Joseph Bonnet en Marcel Dupré. Bekend zijn de orgelsonates. deze zijn gelijkwaardig aan de beroemde orgelsymfonieën van Widor.
Zijn oeuvre was danook zeer geliefd.
Ook bekend onder de titel Morceau Symphonique opus 88.

Sonata Eroica, Op. 94 (1930) is a melodious piece composed by Joseph Jongen for great organ. Dedicated to Joseph Bonnet who was the organist of the St Eustache Church in Paris, this piece is quite difficult (upper intermediate/advanced level) and requires the use of different keyboard divisions and pedals. Lasting around 16 minutes, this wonderful work is quite architectural and will astonish you by its grandeur. It is the perfect piece to include in a recital. Joseph Jongen was a Belgian organist, composer and professor of harmony and counterpoint. He won the Belgian Prix de Rome and composed numerous pieces including music chamber works, symphonies, concertos and songs. His most famous piece is the Symphonie Concertante (1926).
