Capriccio is a term for a musical work that doesnâ??t strictly adhere to formal â??classicalâ?? conventions but rather follows its own ideas. Pascal Proust speelt in dit stuk op een grappige manier met de verwachtingen van de luisteraar: hij presenteert bijvoorbeeld een langzame swinggroove in de piano, die in contrast staat met het barcarolleachtige thema in het blazerstrio, en combineert op kleurrijke wijze kenmerken van de tango en de rock.
