The Harpsicle Harp Method book is an excellent tool for learning to play the Harpsicle Harp or any size Harp from the very beginning. No musical knowledge is necessary to use this method. All the music is written inthe keys of C Major and A minor so no sharping levers or pedals are needed. The Guitar chords are displayed above the staff so the students can add to the written music or other instruments can accompany the Harp. The music isgraduated from two fingers to playing with both hands. The music is labeled to allow the students to gradually learn the notes and fingering without stress or frustration.The method contains lessons on the parts of theHarp tuning stringing and taking care of your instrument. Also included in the method are reading music time signatures and counting placing and bracketing finger drills and much more. Pièce pour harpe-French pianist and composer Serge Lancen (1922-2005) studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won first prize for composition in 1949. His professional career saw him winning many prizes for his compositions and For Raphaele remains popular in the Harp repertoire. As exemplified in For Raphaele Lancen's compositional style remained attached to the French characteristics featuring luscious melodies balance and clarity of tone. With a typical performance lasting about 2 and a half minutes Pour Raphaele demonstrates the versatility of the Harp addressing flourishes dotted rhythms syncopation and variations in dynamics. For all intermediate harpists Lancen's For Raphaele is a delightful addition to the instrument's repertoire.

Written by Marcel Tournier  Féerie – Prelude Et Dance is a piece for Harp dedicated to Alphonse Hasselmans and to be played on the Pedal Harps. This piece would fit the skills and abilities of advanced Harp players and the technical difficulties encountered are numerous: hand-crossings numerous arpeggios natural harmonies many accidental alterations as well as some pedal changes. Marcel Tournier (1879-1951) was a French harpist and teacher. He studied with Alphonse Hasselmans at the Paris Conservatoire and composed numerous pieces for Solo Harp: ' Russian Lullabies' 'Six Christmas' 'FourPreludes' and 'Three images suite 1 Op. 29' among many others.

Variations Sur Un Thème Dans Le Style Ancien by Carlos Salzedo is the third and final work of a series called “Three pieces” for solo pedal Harp. Difficult to play it is rated 8° and requires good mastering of the instrument and of its technique including the pedals. Using the full range of the instrument this work features numerous trills glissandos and accidentals among other technicalities and is divided between really fast and more quiet parts. Really delightful this melodious piece is composed of a main theme and eleven variations:  Main Theme (Maestoso) is composed of chords I. A tempo Graziamente II. Tempo di Bourrée III. Scherzando IV. Fuga Finishing on the main theme a Tempo this wonderful work is an amazing piece to include in a concert or a recital. Carlos Salzedo (1885-1961) was a French harpist and composer who wrote and transcribed numerous pieces for the Harp. He also wrote some pedagogical publications for harpists.

Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) studied at the Paris Conservatoire before embarking upon a successful composing career. The composer wrote for a variety of instrumentations and his works remain popular to this day Entr'acte arranged for Flute or Violin and Harp being no exception. Composed in 1935 Entr'acte is suitable to intermediate level flautists violinists and harpists. Ibert was a unique composer who did not associate himself with any particular style. His music is generally lighthearted often reflecting the composer's wit and humour. Containing a variety of musical aspects and techniques andsignificantly composed for an unusual arrangement of Flute or Violin with Harp accompaniment Ibert's Entr'acte is an exciting addition to the intermediate level Flute Violin and Harp repertoire.

The composer writes: 'My approach to writing these works for intermediate level lever harp was to fully embrace the diatonic and/or modal properties of the lever harp and to write into the strengths of the instrument. I also wanted to create works which whilst embedded in stylistically familiar territory also open up less familiar technical and musical elements for new players. For example the ???celtic??? themed works Coire Fhionn Lochan and The Road to Kilchurn Castle are derived from very familiar elements but which challenge the players ability to deal with irregular times and juxtaposed rhythmic material and Reverie which tests the harpists ability to maintain evennesswhile controlling gradual changes of tempo and dynamic within a very familiar technical landscape. One of the other important things was to write works specifically for the lever harp (as opposed to pedal harp) especially given that so much lever harp repertoire consists of arrangements or re-arranged pedal harp music. The lever system offers many advantages over the pedal system including the opportunity to employ chromatic possibilities that would otherwise be impossible. So some of these works indulge and celebrate these idiosyncrasies. I hope you will enjoy playing them as much as I enjoyed writing them.'

Brocéliande is a piece for Harp by Annie Challan. Lasting 2’30 minutes this piece was written for elementary level (upper beginner / intermediate level). It can be played on lever or pedal Harps as there are only a few accidentals. This tribute to the magical forest is the perfect piece to be played in recitals. Annie Challan (born in 1940) is a French Harpist who was the youngest player at the Paris Operas when she started working there. She composed numerous pieces for the Harp.

This book illustrates a variety of accompaniment patterns and arrangement techniques for the folk harpist. The procedure taught in this book will enable the intermediate to advanced harper to play any melody beautifully on thepedal free harp.
