In 2022, we introduced the R-11, the world's first phantom powered, active ribbon™ microphone. It was a revolutionary development in ribbon mics, combining impedance matching circuitry with condenser-like output levels that allowed the R-122 to be used on even the quietest sound sources. It also allowed the mic to be paired to virtually any preamplifier. The R-122 MKII takes the R-122 to a whole new level, delivering unprecedented flexibility for ribbons via the addition of a switchable -15 dB pad and a switchable bass-cut filter. The switches are completely cut out of the circuit when disengaged so when both are off, the microphone is for all purposes an original R-22. The switches are located on the back of the microphone and recessed to prevent accidental activation. Features: • Phantom powered circuitry provides high output and impedance matching • -15 dB pad before the mic's electronics gives more headroom when activated • Bass cut filter reduces proximity effect and bass below 100 Hz when activated • High SPL Capabilities • No distortion up to maximum SPL rating • Extremely low residual noise • Ribbon element is not affected by heat or humidity • Absence of high frequency phase distortion • Equal sensitivity from front or back of element • Consistent frequency response regardless of distance • Rear side of mic records slightly brighter when three feet or closer to sound source.

The R-122V is the pinnacle of our R-Series line, a world-class tube ribbon microphone exhibiting unparalleled richness, depth, and detail, particularly in the midrange frequencies. With a lushness that has to be heard to be truly appreciated, the R-122V offers the ultimate in ribbon microphone performance for those who insist on the very best. The R-122V takes the Royer-pioneered concept of active ribbon microphone technology to an unprecedented level by incorporating vacuum tube electronics into the same proven transducer system used in the venerable R-121 and R-122 ribbon microphones. The high operating voltage of the vacuum tube provides headroom far beyond that available from a standard phantom power supply. Sonically this translates into unmwatched clarity, detail, and airiness, along with the ability to handle brute SPL levels without flinching. Features: • Vacuum tube electronics provide high output capacity, optimal impedance to the ribbon element and low output impedance • Extremely low self-noise • Operates from a dedicated power supply • High SPL capabilities for electric guitar and percussion instruments • Absence of high-frequency peaks, “ringing” and phase shifts • Ribbon element, unaffected by impedance/load, heat or humidity • Very low magnetic leakage • Equal sensitivity from front or back of element • Consistent frequency response regardless of distance • Rear side of mic records slightly brighter when three feet or closer to sound source.

As an inexhaustible proponent of Beethoven's life and work, Franz Liszt (1811-1886) produced a number of arrangements and transcriptions in homage to the great composer. His FANTASIE ÜBER MOTIVEN AUS BEETHOVENS RUINEN VON ATHEN, S. 122 (FANTASY ON BEETHOVEN'S RUINS OF ATHENS) for piano and orchestra is one of three existing versions, all of which he dedicated to Nikolay Rubinstein. The work on which the piece is based, incidental music for a play by August von Kotzebue, was written in 1811 in Pest, Hungary for the dedication of a new theater. The first performance of the FANTASY took place, also in Pest, on June 1, 1853. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2.2.2: 2.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(2-3) Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Pno in Score. Reprint edition.

This late work in the composer's exquisite, occasionally austere sonority with the movements Intrada, Adagietto, Scherzo and Finale (Praludium and Fughetta) last approximately 15 minutes. A fascinating challenge for ambitious ensembles.

The episode from Ovid'sMetamorphosesin which Daphne attempts to escape Apollo's advances by turning into a laurel tree, causing the devastated god to weave a laurel crown in memory of the nymph, has inspired the masterworks of many artists. Gian Lorenzo Bernini, whose famous marble sculpture is housed in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, is only one example of this. Many composers set this myth to music including young George Frideric Handel with his grand-scale dramatic cantataApollo e Dafne. The composer started working on the work shortly before leaving Italy in 1709, most likely finishing it the following year in Hanover.Barenreiter now presents a vocal score of the opera-like cantata, the highlights of which include Dafne's ariaFelicissima quest'alma(accompanied by solo oboe) and Apollo's famous lamentCara pianta.
