Orphaned toys come to life in this eerie tour of an abandoned toy store. The work opens and closes with Victor Herbert's dreamlike Toyland as a Jack-in-the-box plays Pop Goes the Weasel. A wealth of toy sounds make their appearance among diminished chords, tri-tones, and the Dies Irae, which surrounds an aleatoric section featuring a whole host of noisy toys. Highly accessible, extremely creative, and definitely memorable!

Lindsay E. Stetner's Lighting the Dark was inspired by the work of Nikola Tesla. This piece was inspired by a documentary called Mysteries of the Abandoned, which featured the now abandoned laboratory. The most striking feature of the property is the nearly 200-foot tall Wardenclyffe Tower. His work with electricity and the Tesla coil has become an area of fascination in our quest for cleaner energy and electric cars. (3:50).

The story of Bastien und Bastienne is based on the musical pastoral Le Devin du Village by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The play was hugely popular in paraphrase and translation and entered the repertoires of travelling companies and children's theaters. A shepherd succumbs to the enticements of the lady of the castle and tries to abandon his beloved. The village soothsayer appeals to his conscience and advises the abandoned Bastienne to feign coyness until Bastien shamefacedly returns to her. Mozart's version, composed in Vienna in the summer of 1768, is based on a text by Friedrich Wilhelm Weiskern that had been in existence since 1764. On his return to Salzburg, he undertook an ultimately unfinished revision of the work, improving the textual underlay and replacing the spoken dialogue with recitative. He also changed the vocal register of Colas and probably that of Bastien as well. The Carus edition is the first to treat these two versions separately. The Credo belongs to that large group of church works which Vivaldi composed in Venice between 1713 and 1717 for the Ospedale della Pieta, then his primary place of employment. The composition, conceived solely for choir and strings, is characterized by a two-layered formal design: a continuous, basic motivic idea, i.e., a constant rhythmic impulse with rapid tone repetition builds an instrumental layer, while on the other hand the writing for choir renders the text in a blocklike structure in chordal declamation. This structure will only be abandoned briefly in the concluding section of work, where the text Et vitam venturi saeculi is embedded in a concise fugue. Little is known about the actual composition process of Lemminkainen and the performance and publication history is rather complex, resulting in a first complete printing of all the four movements en suite through the complete edition of Jean Sibelius Works only in 2013.In summer 1894 Sibelius went to Central Europe, carrying among others a plan for an opera freely based on the Kalevala in his mind. But during this trip he reassessed his composing: I think I have found my old self again, musically speaking. I think I really am a tone painter and a poet. As a result he abandoned his opera plans, but musical parts may have found their way into the Lemminkainen pieces which he started composing during that time. Definitely the overture had, it is now known and loved as The Swan of Tuonela. Lemminkainen became popular from the beginning and has attained a fixed position in the concert repertoire.
