The so-called 'Anna Maria Partbook' consists of an elegantly bound volume in red leather containing the violin part of 31 highly virtuoso violin concertos, 26 of which are by Vivaldi. The collection represents the personal repertoire of the Venetian composer's most gifted pupil, the famous 'Anna Maria della Pieta', who also played the viola d'amore, mandolin, theorbo and harpsichord. Twenty of the Vivaldi concertos are known from other manuscript sources and are therefore familiar to us in their complete versions. The remaining six -- three for violin and three for violin and organ -- are unique to the Anna-Maria Partbook, and, because they are incomplete, have not hitherto been part of the Vivaldi performing canon. Now, as a result of Federico Maria Sardelli's rigorous musicological research and painstaking work of reconstruction based on many concordant sources, we are at last able to enjoy these six concertos in startlingly persuasive realizations.

The study of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions on the harp has a long history. The first who understood its importance for educational purposes was Robert Nicolas Charles Bochsa, who inserted some fugues of Bach and Haendel in his monumental method for the harp op. 60, accompanied by detailed fingerings. However, it was from the beginning of the 20th Century that the great harp teachers began to work extensively on Bach’s repertoire. Among the most illustrious examples we can mention Henriette Renié, who published two volumes of transcriptions, one containing ten preludes and one ten short pieces, Alfred Kastner who worked on the Two–part Inventions, Marcel Grandjany with his famous studies based on partitas and sonatas for solo violin, or Annie Louis David, who published two important volumes of preludes and fugues taken from The Well-Tempered Clavier, not to mention all those who transcribed just a single piece for concert purpose. As is known, the Notebook for Anna Magdalena (Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach), consists of two small manuscript volumes, the first compiled in Köthen in 1722 and the second in Leipzig three years later. The first contains only compositions by Johann Sebastian, while the second also includes pieces by other authors such as Couperin, Hasse and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The idea of collecting in a volume some of the simplest compositions contained in the Notebook was born mainly from the desire to introduce even the youngest students to Bach’s music, in an easy and progressive way, so as to start as soon as possible at make them familiar with polyphonic writing and the use of embellishments, introduced here in a simplified version.

Anna di Stazzema in the year of war 1944 and appreciating the idea and spirit of the peace centre there.'Kyrie' and 'Agnus Dei' are sung solely by the choir a cappella, whereas 'Gloria' and 'Sanctus' are jointly sung by choir and congregation. In 1725, J.S. Bach gave his second wife, Anna Magdalena, a Notenbüchlein - a collection of solo keyboard pieces and arias. Most of the keyboard pieces were composed by friends, colleagues, and his son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The easier keyboard works were probably used to instruct their children, while the arias would have been performed by Anna Magdalena, who was a singer. For this edition, Edwin McLean has chosen and expertly edited the most popular and easier keyboard pieces. Originally, the pieces contained no dynamics and virtually no phrasing, which is typical of baroque harpsichord music and even early 18th-century fortepiano music. Sectional dynamics have been added editorially and may be changed at the discretion of the performer. A minimal amount of phrasing and articulation has also been added for clarity. This edition preserves the original notation for appoggiaturas, where small eighth or quarter notes resolve to the principal note. Ossias have been included to show how to play them; ossias also appear when needed for ornaments such as trills and mordents.
