Organ SKU: SU.80101407 For Organ. Composed by Carson Cooman. Keyboard, Organ. Score. Zimbel Press #80101407. Published by Zimbel Press (SU.80101407). Three Autumn Sketches after a Watercolor by Maria Willscher (2017) are dedicated to Hans-Peter Bahr. The music is inspired by a watercolor painting by Maria (Neumann) Willscher (1922-1998) entitled Herbststimmung. The three movements explore moods and colors of autumn as reflected in the painting. In the first movement, Herbststimmung (Autumn Mood), a musical line falls under gentle undulation. A central section is a wistful chorale. The second movement, Herbstfarben (Autumn Colors), reflects on the subtle variety and gradations of autumn colors with constantly shifting armonic colors. The final movement, Sonnenuntergang (Sunset), is inspired by the serenely beautiful colors of an autumn sunset, imagining the sun's departing rays illuminating the autumn landscape. Fanfare Band - Grade 4 SKU: BT.GOB-000264-020 Composed by Andrew R. Mackereth. Set (Score & Parts). 72 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000264-020. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000264-020). Hymnus was commissioned by the Wilhelmina Easterein Fanfare Orchestra in the Autumn of 1999 for their performance at the World Music Contest, Kerkrade.
The commission was the result of a collaboration between the composer and the thenmusical director, Marten van der Wal.
The exact meaning of the word Hymnus is not known but it is taken in this presentation to mean hymn or hymn-like. The melodic material is organic and grows from an initial unison tone. Thisinterval is gradually expanded to form the cell F E C F, a semitone, third, fifth. The only other melodic motif is the ascending three-note pattern spanning a major third. This is the second of his compositions to use this ascending motif, theother being Fanfare for a Bright New Age for Brass Band and Organ, also of 2000. These characteristic intervals appear in many contrasting moods and guises throughout the piece.
The opening unison notes are intended to convey as sense ofpower and magnificence, like the first sounds at the dawning of the universe. After the immense power, a period of stunned silence and reverence. The evolution of the hymn melody incorporates a variety of moods and atmospheres, sometimes expressing much joy and celebration whilst also suggesting periods of intense savagery or prayerful contemplation. The hymn builds as the piece progresses and is finally stated in its complete form at letter W.
The official worldpremiere of the work was given by Wilhelmina Easterein at the World Music Contest 2001. Whilst the composer was unable to attend in person, he was able to enjoy the premier simultaneously transmitted via a mobile phone from the audience!
Conductors Note The tempo indications are to be viewed as a guide rather than a literal instruction. Within the music there is an innate sense of pulse and metre, lending itself to considerable rubato. Melody is king, and all else is mere support and decoration, careful attention must therefore be given to balance. $203.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

G. Henle #HN1551. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481551). UPC: 196288207160. 9.25x12.0x0.082 inches. Tchaikovsky spent the summer and autumn of 1880 at his sister's country estate in Kam'ianka, Ukraine, where he sought peace and relaxation. But after a short time the desire to work took hold of him again. “I'm sketching a symphony or string quintet just now; I don't know where it's going yet,†he wrote to his friend and patroness Nadezhda von Meck. In the end it turned out to be a Serenade for String Orchestra, which numbers among his most beautiful inspirations and is today a central work in the genre. The four movements captivate with their diverse moods – be it the Mozartian first movement “in the form of a sonatinaâ€, the elegant Waltz, the melancholy “Elegia†or the rousing Finale. For this new source-critical edition it was possible to consult the autograph in Moscow as well as the early printed editions into which Tchaikovsky sometimes entered a number of minor revisions. Organ, Soprano, Organ Accompaniment, Ensemble, SATB SKU: HL.14035061 Composed by Per Norgard. Music Sales America. Classical. Score. 74 pages. Music Sales #KP00036. Published by Music Sales (HL.14035061). ISBN 9788759862353. English-Danish. Winter Cantata / Vinterkantate (1976) by Per Norgard for a variable ensemble of soloist, mixed choir and instruments (minimum: vocalist and organ). Programme Note: When in 1975 I had finished composing my 3rd Symphony (begun in 1973), I wrote three simple melodies for two psalm texts by Ole Sarvig: The Year and Choral Hymn. These three tunes were derived from the same material as the second movement of the 3rd Symphony and could be harmonized together in several different tempo relationships at the same time - like fractals - which inspired me to write several choral and instrumental works in the following decade based on these melodies: Frost Psalm, Winter Cantata, Winter Hymn, Cantica and others. One of these 'Sarvig melodies' is now included in the new Danish Hymnbook, under the title Aret(The Year). Ole Sarvig's poem Aret (The Year) is Danish, perhaps Scandinavian in character, but its symbolic atmosphere is global (now snow is covering the whole earth). The basic composition of this cantata - based on Sarvig's many verses - was done by letting soloist, choir and instruments change in feelings and moods: from the almost silent, inward-looking beginning (I: Chorale dolorosa) to a dancelike and happy optimism (II: A heaven germ on winged foot thrust deep into the earth its root), followed by nightmarish tone rows as the year-wheel of fortune is turning (III: Sacrifice - The Year) and the temptations of the snake (IV: In Paradiso) - to the allegorical fights between egoism and altruism (V:The Cycle - Autumn. Purgatory) before the waiting for a disaster- atmosphere at the end of this choral Odysse. Winter Cantata was from the beginning (1976) designed as an open work, to be arranged by different combinations of soloists, choir and (different) instruments. The printed version by Per Norgard and Ivan hansen for soloist, mixed choir and instruments (obo, violin, trombone, vibraphone/percussion and organ) is from 1990. The work is available in both the (original) Danish version (Vinterkantate) and an English version (Winter Cantata), translated by Helen and Ole Sarvig.
