BASIS set for use in music teaching: For every youth choir, making the transition from singing in unison to singing in parts is an exciting process. chorissimo! blue, the new volume for equal voices in our successful choir series chorissimo!, accompanies and supports this process. It contains a wide range of carefully-chosen and stylistically varied pieces, presented for flexible use, as well as versatile practical working material, including playback, audio and practice track CDs, and a DVD of video clips. The volume, structured for graded learning, progresses in six steps from unison singing, via canons and quodlibets, to homophonic and polyphonic two- and three-part pieces. Different workshops, some of which feature on the video clips, focus on individual aspects of choral work, such as warm-ups or beatboxing. All the pieces have a piano accompaniment; in addition, some pieces can be accompanied by additional instruments or band. Flexible part material is available for this. As well as the choral arrangements, for all the pieces the main volume contains a piano accompaniment, workshops (including beatboxing, warm-ups) and background information. Score available separately - see item CA.220400.

Work for Chamber dating from 1988. The composer writes: MINNEWATER means 'love water'/'love lake', but when I began to compose the work, this direct meaning of the title was not very important to me. Rather the word itself had a magical sound. Later on, however, it occurred to me that the piece was full of mumbling swells and swarming cascades, and the sensation of water is perhaps most perceptible towards the end where lots of falling water movements are felt behind the emphasized rhythmic surface. Falls that moreover, quite literally at the end, sinks into the water. MINNEWATER has a subtitle: THOUSANDS OF CANONS, which directly refers to a compostion technique where all layers and elements in the music constantly are imitated; possibly waves imitating each other? The mudded and impalpable beginning of the work takes its starting point in one of my earlier pieces, the sextett LES TUCHINS (in fact the first 5 or 6 pages of the two pieces are quite identical but in MINNEWATER it is all 'blown up' to a larger ensemble). Quite soon, however, the thread to LES TUCHINS is cut off and it goes its own way; From the mumbling in the start - through swarming trills and pointilistic staccato movements - to a long section where the trumpet appears as a soloist and in a way conducts the movements of the remaining ensemble right to the rhythmic final section of the piece. MINNEWATER was commissioned by the Danish Radio for the German Ensemble Modern.

The Well-Tempered Hanon: Hanon the way Bach would have done it (spiral-bound, 241 pages plus a 4-page Preface with background information and practice tips), presents Part 1 of Charles-Louis Hanon’s The Virtuoso Pianist (20 exercises) transposed into all 24 major and minor keys harmonized in thirds and sixths resulting in invertible counterpoint. This results in a virtually endless supply of indispensable exercises (480 in all) valuable for the study of sight-reading, counterpoint, fingering, technique, and transposition. These highly Bachian style exercises offer a lifetime source of inspirational and musical lessons ideal for piano and organ students and teachers of all levels and abilities, from the beginning levels through university studies and beyond. Hanon’s exercises modified in the style of J.S. Bach serve as especially useful preparations for the reading and playing of polyphonic music in a variety of major and minor keys such as Bach’s inventions, canons, and fugues.
