ISBN 9790015275807. $21.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Chorus a cappella SKU: BR.CHB-5275-02 Urtext. Composed by Carl Heinrich Graun. Edited by Herbert Lolkes. Choir; stapled. Chor-Bibliothek (Choral Library). Motet; Baroque. Choral score. 28 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #ChB 5275-02. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.CHB-5275-02). ISBN 9790004411964. 7.5 x 10.5 inches. German. Considering that his works for chorus and orchestra once enjoyed great popularity, it seemed only fitting to turn our attention to Graun as an a cappella composer. The four choral pieces in Grauns typical empfindsam style were first published between 1776 and 1791 in the Vierstimmige Motetten und Arien. They, in turn, were issued by the Leipzig St. Thomas cantor Johann Adam Hiller and serve as the only source for this new edition (1997). $10.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Published by Edition HH Music Publishers (HH.HH592-FSP). ISBN 9790708213079. Of particular interest is this beautiful trio that has been come down to us in two different tonalities, E flat major and E major. The E major version, for two flutes and continuo, is found in a single source preserved at the Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen. The transposition from the original key of E flat major, undertaken by the composer himself, places the work in a brighter tonality, albeit one that presents more of a challenge to players of the baroque flute. $33.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Baerenreiter Verlag #BA05853_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA05853). ISBN 9790006497928. 33 x 25.8 cm inches. Language: German. Text: Zimmermann, Joachim Johann Daniel / Ramler, Karl Wilhelm. Telemann’s passion oratorio “Der Tod Jesu†was composed in 1754-55, roughly at the same time as the same-named highly regarded work by Carl Heinrich Graun. Both pieces are settings of the same libretto by Karl Wilhelm Ramler. In this late work, Telemann consciously contrasts the carefully crafted recitatives with musically reduced solemn choruses to obtain an emotional reading of the Passion text.
This vocal score complements the Urtext score of this moving passion oratorio which is published as part of the “Georg Philipp Telemann Musical Worksâ€. The complete orchestral material is available on hire.
About Barenreiter Urtext What can I expect from a Barenreiter Urtext edition? Since its first performance in Berlin in 1755, Carl Heinrich Graun's empfindsame (sensible) Passion Cantata Der Tod Jesu, with a libretto by Karl Wilhelm Ramler had long been one of the most frequently performed works in this genre. Until the end of the 19th century this work was able to maintain its position in the repertoire of numerous oratorio societies and singing academies (especially the Berliner Sing-Akademie). It was often given equal billing with Bach's passions, until finally, in the second half of the 19th century Bach's works became more predominant. With the publication of the present critical new edition (the first since it was first published in 1760), Der Tod Jesu is once again available for sale to the musical public.
