Dans de nombreux cas, nous ne connaissons pas le modèle original, mais il n’en va pas ainsi pour le Concerto en Ré majeur BWV 1054, qui fut composé vers 1738 en tant que transcription du concerto pour violon en Mi majeur BWV 1042. Et une fois de plus, Bach parvient à transformer comme par magie la partie de violon en une partition brillante et particulièrement idiomatique pour instrument à clavier.
