SKU: CA.5022200 Composed by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. Edited by Sebastian Hammelsbeck. This edition: Complete edition, linen cover. Josef Gabriel Rheinberger - Complete Works. German title: Ensemblemusik Mit Begleitung. Secular choral music. Full score (complete edition / selected edition). 224 pages. Carus Verlag #CV 50.222/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5022200). ISBN 9790007090296. This volume contains Rheinberger's choral works with accompaniment which are not ballads. These compositions, some of which are unknown today, merit a rediscovery and offer a wide range of different scorings: Included among them are compositions for mixed voices, for women's choir and men's choir. Most of them can be performed either chorally or with a group of soloists. Rheinberger's romantic-idyllic setting of Eichendorff's Die Nacht op. 56, with the unusual accompaniment of a piano quartet, is very attractive. In the Hymnus an die Tonkunst op. 179 a wind orchestra is added to the choir. The remaining works are with piano accompaniment. $204.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Brass Band - Grade 1 SKU: BT.GOB-000563-130 Arranged by Andrew R. Mackereth. Score Only. 8 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000563-130. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000563-130). In English-speaking countries ‘Away in a Manger’ is one of the first Christmas songs to be taught to little children. It is a moving song with simple words, which makes it easy to understand.
The song is also known as ‘Luther’s Cradle Hymn’. This suggests that Martin Luther was the author of the lyrics. According to researchers, however, this is a misconception the author is unknown. In England ‘Away in a Manger’ is sung to a different melody than in the USA, for example. The ‘English’ melody was composed by W.J. Kirkpatrick. Andrew Mackereth made a touching arrangement of the ‘English’ melody, which suits the tender lyrics perfectly.
$12.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Bote & Bock #M202535615. Published by Bote & Bock (HL.48024842). ISBN 9783793142584. UPC: 840126908824. The Shoa never was a theme in the works of Ursula Mamlok - with the exception of Ruckblick for saxophone and piano which she wrote in 2002 on commission of the Temple University in memory of Kristallnacht. The contrast between slow and fast movements is much moreelaborate than in her other works from that period, with the fast movements appearing somewhat driven while the piano part for a fewmoments adopts an otherwise unknown severity. Near the end of the third movement, cantabile and fleeting gestures are suddenly pushed toward each other. The first fast movement arises from the destruction of attempted cantability. The Elegy (2nd movement) dies away with a four-fold reminder of its initial motif, the last attempt remaining fragmentary. The fourth movement Lament concludes with a figure that returns to its beginning. $17.99 - See more - Buy online

Bach's Cantata BWV 69a of 1723, which has remained largely unknown to the present day, is now available for the first time in a practical edition with this Carus publication. It has been unjustly neglected as it was overshadowed by the Cantata BWV 69 of the same name, a piece which Bach reworked to celebrate the inauguration of Leipzig Town Council in 1748. On that occasion Bach re-used the parts from 1723 for simplicity, and adapted them for the new use by means of cuts, alterations, and additions - something which certainly did not mean that he rejected the 1723 version. This version can readily be recovered from the parts of 1723, if we explore beyond the alterations of 1748. With its rich wind instruments and great opening chorus, the 1723 cantata is in no way inferior to the later festive music in terms of musical splendor. The text takes the Gospel reading about the healing of the deaf and dumb man as a reason for praise and thanks for God's good deeds. In contrast to the later version, in which God is thanked for the wisdom of the Leipzig authorities, the original version of 1723 is free of such contemporary references, and is suitable for use in worship and concerts in many different ways. The works for solo voice(s) and orchestra assembled in this volume owe their composition to the most diverse occasions. Some were tailor-made for female singers in Beethoven's milieu, while with others he was dabbling in the field of Italian opera (under the tutelage of none other than Antonio Salieri). Scarcely any of them made it into print during Beethoven's lifetime. Aside from canonical works of the repertoire such as “Ah! perfido†op. 65, this volume also contains unknown gems like the scene and aria Beethoven revised multiple times, “No, non turbarti†- “Ma tu tremi, o mio tesoro?â€. The study score contains the text of the scholarly Complete Edition. Beethoven specialist Ernst Herttrich additionally provides information about the genesis and exciting variants in the transmission history. ISBN 9790004350850. 10 x 12.5 inches. The cantata Schmucket das Fest mit Maien has survived without any information about the time of its composition, its purpose, or its scoring. The librettist is also unknown, although there is a comparatively similar text in the work of the Silesian poet Hans Assmann Freiherr von Abschatz (1646-1699), printed in Leipzig in 1704. Since the copy of the score that serves as the source for this edition was probably written after 1708, and the work is closely related to the cantata Daran erkennen wir (PB 32090), it could have been written during Kuhnau's first years as Thomaskantor from 1701 on.The text set to music provides information about the purpose of the cantata. In the course of the work, the image of the bridegroom and his bride from the Song of Songs is reinterpreted as the sending of the Holy Spirit upon the congregation of Christians. In the first part, passages from the Song of Songs predominate while the second part quotes their symbolic interpretations or treats them in free poetry. In the concluding chorale, a stanza from Philipp Nicolai's Wie schon leuchtet der Morgenstern (How beautifully the morning star shines), the outpouring and the flames are also mentioned, so the purpose to the feast of Pentecost is clear.Another special feature of the cantata is the varied and colorful instrumentation with the scoring of two flutes, two oboes and bassoon in individual movements, in addition to the usual, sometimes divided strings. $9.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Published by G. Henle (HL.51481594). UPC: 196288215837. 9.0x12.0x0.046 inches. One of Scriabin's best-known piano pieces is also one of his very first compositions. He wrote it when he was only fifteen years old; when it appeared in print in 1893, the twenty-one-year-old was still so unknown that he did not receive any remuneration from the publisher. The rapturous etude was soon to enjoy unprecedented success. Marked “Andante”, it is not a virtuoso piece – but nevertheless it is a challenge to master the full-handed chords in legato and to clearly work out the upper and middle parts at the same time. In the Henle Urtext edition, Boris Giltburg's fingerings support this task in an exemplary manner. As an etude of medium difficulty, this earworm offers a wonderful introduction to the piano world of Scriabin! Guitar - intermediate SKU: M7.GHE-704 Cádiz from Suite española op. 47/4. Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Edited by Stefano Grondona. This edition: Saddle-wire stitching. Sheet music. First Publication. Op. 47/4. 8 pages. MDS (Music Distribution Services) #GHE 704. Published by MDS (Music Distribution Services) (M7.GHE-704). ISBN 9783890447049. English. Thanks to Stefano Grondona, this unknown and unedited transcription by Tárrega in G major of Albéniz' Cádiz, known widely as the Célebre Serenata Española has just been identified in a manuscript copied by Miguel Llobet, probably while he was still Tárrega's pupil. This beautiful and subtle transcription is not overcomplicated to play, Tárrega did not try to do everything, as some later transcribers have attempted to do. The melody sings and the accompaniment is subtly always there. The tuning with 5th string to G, and 6th to D, is no hindrance - on the contrary it is a boon. We are not aware of any published version of this work in G major, and this particular version has never been published until now. We are delighted to make it available for the first time in a new scholarly edition prepared from Llobet's meticulously accurate manuscript, a copy of which is reproduced in the edition. $10.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BVK02163). ISBN 9783761821633. 31.5 x 20 cm inches. Johann Sebastian Bach wrote testimonials for alumni of St Thomas 's School who wanted to apply for scholarships to study at university. Until recently, only one of these testimonials was known, but not its exact purpose. In the summer of 2008 Andreas Glockner discovered three further testimonials in the Leipzig University Archive which then shed light on the overall circumstances in which they were produced. The fact that Bach, the cantor at St Thomas's produced testimonials for scholarship applicants was previously unknown, as was the setting up of a special fund to support poor students from St Thomas's and Bach's participation in making these awards. These findings therefore represent a wealth of new discoveries and insights for Bach scholarship. It is particularly pleasing that there are now more dated written documents from Bach's last decade which contain information on the situation of church music in Leipzig in the year of Bach's death.

This motet, no matter how popular it is, presents Bach scholars with a few puzzles: is it really by Bach? Somehow the text doesn't fit with the notes, at least not so that it's comfortable to sing. And is the musicologists' problem the same for the choral singers? Not, of course not in the Alleluia fugue: in that, there really is something to worry about ... year of composition unknown. | Away in a Manger Marching band [Score] - Beginner Gobelin Music Publications

Fanfare Band - Grade 1 SKU: BT.GOB-000545-120 Arranged by Andrew R. Mackereth. Score Only. 8 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000545-120. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000545-120).
$16.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
