English Russian. Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) was a pianist and composer of international stature and one of the towering figures of early 20th century music. He left behind an ouvre consisting of some 170 works, many of which await discovery or are known only in forms far removed from the composer's intentions. Sergei Rachmaninoff : Critical Edition of the Complete Works (RCW), a project issued by Russian Music Publishing, is the first complete edition of Rachmaninoff 's music prepared in accordance with scholarly criteria while meeting the demands of performers. It catalogues, explores, and annotates every available musical, literary, and iconographic source on Rachmaninoff 's music. The RCW is published under the scholarly auspices of Dr. Valentin Antipov. The editorial standards of the RCW satisfy the most discerning criteria and are safeguarded by an Editorial Board of internationally acknowledged authorities in Rachmaninoff scholarship. Alexandre Rachmaninoff (1933-2012), the composer's grandson, has been retained as a special advisor. The RCW is furthermore realized in close cooperation with the Glinka State Central Museum of Musical Culture, which houses one of the most extensive collections of Rachmaninoff autographs worldwide. All sources are consulted for the first time and all compositions are presented in their authentic form with all existing versions from the composer. $135.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Cello and orchestra (solo: vc - 2.2.2.2. - 3.2.3.0. - timp.trg - str) SKU: BR.PB-5290 Urtext. Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Edited by Klaus Doge. Arranged by K. Doge. Orchestra; Softbound. Partitur-Bibliothek (Score Library). Klaus Doge has critically re-examined all the surviving sources. His research has yielded a new, text-critical edition that meticulously evaluates the many, often contradictory readings that create discrepancies between the autograph and the first edit. Solo concerto; Romantic. Full score. 128 pages. Duration 42'. Breitkopf and Haertel #PB 5290. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.PB-5290). ISBN 9790004210802. 10 x 12.5 inches. Choosing an edition of this celebrated violoncello concerto has always posed a dilemma: they were based either on the first edition, which was not given a final authorization by Dvorak, or solely on the autograph, which does not represent the final version in many instances. This was the case with the Dvorak Complete Edition of 1955, for example. Klaus Doge has critically re-examined all the surviving sources. His research has yielded a new, text-critical edition that meticulously evaluates the many, often contradictory readings that create discrepancies between the autograph and the first edition. In the conclusions he draws for performance practice, Doge generally gives priority to the first edition. However, he does not smooth out Dvorak's special notation, such as Dvorak's publisher Simrock did in his day. Doge's edition also shows that the musical text is not as authenticated as has been suggested by previous editions. Variants have occasionally been notated on a second staff at several passages, particularly in the solo part. The piano reduction, which was prepared by the composer himself, has been edited according to text-critical criteria for the first time as well. Doge was able to rely on a renowned performer for this part of his work: Heinrich Schiff, who arranged the solo part and provides valuable interpretative tips in his commentaries on performance practice.

Horn and piano (solo: hn - 0.2.0.2. - 0.0.0.0. - str) SKU: BR.EB-8698 Original Version and Revised Version by Mozart completed by Robert D. Levin - Urtext. Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Edited by Robert D. Levin. Arranged by Christian Rudolf Riedel. Solo instruments; stapled. Edition Breitkopf. Solo concerto; Classical. Piano reduction. 56 pages. Duration 12'. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 8698. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-8698). ISBN 9790004184813. 9 x 12 inches. The two-movement, incompletely transmitted Horn Concerto in D major K. 412 was long considered as Mozarts first horn concerto; it is, however, his last, and was written between March and December 1791. Mozart undertook revisions in the autograph which contains the most important orchestral parts next to the entire solo horn part in order to adjust the work to the modest technical abilities of the planned soloist Joseph Leutgeb. Mozart revised and completed the first movement, eliminated lower notes in the solo part, rewrote difficult passages and expanded orchestral interludes to give Leutgeb additional breath rests. Mozart also made similar simplifications in the second movement as well, but his early death prevented the completion of the work. Robert D. Levin reconstructed both versions of the concerto on the basis of the autograph. Next to the version revised by Mozart (post correcturam), he now presents the original version (ante correcturam) for the first time in a musical text revised and supplemented according to rigorous philological criteria. $26.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen (HL.14025897). Danish. Programme note : Portrait was written in the spring 1998, at a time when I was a regular visitor in a rest home in an old back building in the town centre of Copenhagen. There I came to know an old lady whose daily life was darkened by despair. She would stand in the corridor in the grey winter light and silently knock at the window frames. Or one could hear her knock at a door at the distance - almost furiously. 'It is screaming inside me', she said. She then could change into a little girl when I went with her into her room and stayed a little. This piece is an attempt to sketch a portrait of Caya. This new, completely revised and reset centenary edition of Satie’s complete piano music in three volumes has returned to Satie’s manuscripts and first editions to give pianists completely accurate and reliable texts to play from.
As well aspresenting every piece for piano solo or piano reduction that Satie published, this edition also includes some previously unknown pieces, like the Petite Sonate that he wrote for Vincent d’Indy at the Schola Cantorum, as well as some interestingfirst versions of well-known pieces, like San Bernardo, a trial version of Españaña (1913) and the markedly different first version of Les Pantins dansent (1914). In addition, there areexamples of the different types of exercises that Satie completedat the Schola between 1905 and 1912, some extra trial Enfantines, and some earlier drafts of his famous Sports et divertissements. To help pianists, suggested metronome marks have been added throughout, and there are also some performance suggestionsfor the Rose Croix pieces of the 1890s, which otherwise appear to be all quiet and slow. The notation has been made as user-friendly as possible, without detracting from Satie’s concerns about the “extériorisation†of his musical thought in print.
$70.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

German (Book) SKU: HL.49045991 Musikhistorische Darstellungen der Jahrzehnte um 1900 in narratologischer Perspektive. Classical, German Edition. Softcover. 284 pages. Schott Music #ED22884. Published by Schott Music (HL.49045991). Music history is not the past itself but a story based on certain sources. In her thesis, Anna Magdalena Bredenbach takes a look at the narrative structures of musico-historical texts by asking how the history of music was narrated in common texts around 1900. Based on a specially developed narratological 'tool kit', she examines time cuts, selection criteria, acting persons and perspectives, as well as master and counter narratives of the centuries around 1900. | Songs for the Twenty-First Century University Of York Music Press

Voice and Accompaniment SKU: BT.MUSM570361922 By Michael Hooper. Book Only. 4 pages. University of York Music Press #MUSM570361922. Published by University of York Music Press (BT.MUSM570361922). English. The song repertoire has its origins in the late nineteenth century when every household had a piano and for much of the twentieth century, singers and their pianist collaborators were able to create recital programmes from a deep reservoir of European and North American song. The recital genre became more sophisticated as the century progressed and metamorphosed from a miscellaneous collection of lollipops to something altogether more sophisticated, often featuring elaborate themes which would enable the music to be presented in a variety of new contexts. In the twenty first century opportunities for recitalists are fewer and programmes still tend to focus on the much-loved butwell-explored repertoire. We hope this collection will contribute to a broadening of possibilities for recitalists or anyone who just wants something new to sing. There are several songs for voice and piano but some require other instruments. There is a wide range of styles. We have resisted the temptation to grade them by difficulty, as our criteria were more broadly performative and musical rather than didactic. All selected composers have a particular sympathy for the singing voice, so there is nothing that cannot be sung by a competent performer. The songs generally have a designated voice type, but this shouldn't be thought of as prescriptive; they are designed to be flexible and to offer the maximum opportunity for creative interpretation. They range from the curious and quirky to the virtuosic and challenging, the intense and mysterious to the sad and the light-hearted. We hope that many performers will find their tastes represented here. Compiled by David Blake and John Potter. Alto Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano Chamber SKU: BT.WHKP00768(+)
Alto Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano Chamber SKU: BT.WHKP00768 Composed by Anders Koppel. Score Only. 60 pages. Edition Wilhelm Hansen #WHKP00768. Published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen (BT.WHKP00768). Mozart also made similar simplifications in the second movement as well, but his early death prevented the completion of the work.Robert D. Levin reconstructed both versions of the concerto on the basis of the autograph. Next to the version revised by Mozart (post correcturam), he now presents the original version (ante correcturam) for the first time in a musical text revised and supplemented according to rigorous philological criteria. $8.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
