Elijah is regarded as a milestone in Mendelssohn's compositional output and as a high point in the oratorio literature of the 19th century. Mendelssohn composed his second great oratorio just a year before his premature death. This excitingly dramatic work also expresses a fervent belief in God, a belief which in the 19th century was no longer self-evident. Mendelssohn transposed the visible world of the Old Testament into numerous musical expressive possibilities in which Old Testament texts, including psalm texts and commentaries from the words of the Prophets, were shaped into biblical dramas. For a subject like Elijah ... the drama must reign supreme ... the characters must be introduced speaking and acting like living people ... a quite vivid world of the sort we find in every chapter of the Old Testament. Mendelssohn to his librettist. Score available separately - see item CA.4013000.

Dedicated to his daughter and scored for three instruments with rhythm section, this imaginative Mike Rossi samba, Simba Samba, features a quirky melody with intervallic leaps and improvised solo opportunities for all. To ensure that the melodic lines can be played well, he warns that the piece should not be played any faster than half-note equals 116. Part 1: Flute, oboe, violin, guitar (C) / alto sax (E-flat) / trumpet, clarinet, soprano sax, tenor sax (B-flat). Part 2: alto sax (E-flat) / trumpet, clarinet, tenor sax (B-flat). Part 3: trombone (C) / baritone sax (E-flat) / tenor sax (B-flat). Rhythm section.

The Requiem was composed during Campra's tenure as the director of music at the cathedral of Notre Dame. It was commissioned for a service in memory of the deceased Archbishop of Paris. At the end of the 18th century it became a tradition in southern France to perform movements of Campra's Requiem during funerals or at memorial services: There is evidence from as late as 1805 which verifies this practice. The scoring of this work is remarkable, in that it calls for four groups of performers: a five-voice Grand Choeur, a 2-3 voice Petit Choeur, three vocal soloists as well as an instrumental group designated as a Symphonie.. Practical performing Urtext edition based on the latest state of Bach research. Every era hears and interprets Bach anew, and every era also evaluates the sources afresh and with new eyes. 40 years after the publication of the St. Matthew Passion in the New Bach Edition, Klaus Hofmann, Director of the Johann Sebastian Bach Institute Gottingen for many years and a contributing editor to the New Bach Edition, presents a new edition. Hofmann has placed the study of the sources at the service of musical practice and the detailed investigation of Bach's intentions. Bach scholars are well aware that Bach's original score and performance parts, running to almost 500 pages of music, are full of ambiguities and contradictions, particularly regarding articulation, which constantly challenge performers to new interpretations. Hofmann discusses these and other problems in a concise critical report, frequently arriving at new conclusions in the process. Extensive notes about parallel passages offer valuable help for interpretation. Special attention was devoted to the performance material with regard to practical needs. Thus, for example the text incipits are also printed in the instrumental parts (including tacet passages). In short - an Urtext edition for practical performance based on the latest findings in Bach research. Score available separately - see item CA.3124400.
