Par GERSHWIN GEORGE. Rhapsody in Blue de George Gershwin, a été écrit pour piano solo et orchestre de jazz en 1924 et combine des éléments de musique classique avec effets influencés par le jazz. La composition a reçu sa première dans un concert intitulé An Experiment in Modern Music, qui s'est tenue le 12 février 1924, à Eoliennes Hall, New York, par Paul Whiteman et sa bande avec Gershwin jouer du piano. Cette version pour brass band, arrangé par Steve Skykes, propose une belle addidition le répertoire de concert de la fanfare qu'elle met en évidence les principaux thèmes de le oeuvre originale./ Répertoire / Brass Band

To provide greater availability for a work of such importance, the original publishers secured from Gershwin a solo piano version wherein the orchestral parts are fused together with the solo piano part (PS0047). Due to concerns that the composer's arrangement presented too many technical demands to pianists not possessing the requisite technique, a modified arrangement was delicately solicited from pianists of the time. (Gershwin's untimely death precluded any modification from the composer himself.) Many attempts at technical modifications were rejected on ethical grounds until Herman Wasserman--who taught Gershwin to play the piano--submitted a manuscript which became this edition. Several prominent pianists who reviewed the score all attested to the amazing reduction in technical demands while retaining the clarity, sonority, and brilliance of the original. This edition is designed for Early Advanced pianists, although some sections, including the well-known Moderato middle section, are accessible to those performing at less-advanced levels.

Cette deuxième collaboration, un film musical, était destinée à être le véhicule pour Judy Garland le retour, après avoir été absent du film pendant 4 ans. Puisque Judy Garland ferait tous du chant, sauf pour certains travaux choral accessoire, les chansons étaient naturellement projetées avec elle à l'esprit. Arlen et Gershwin savaient qu'ils devaient créer une chanson dramatique pour Judy Garland qui lui a permis de démontrer non seulement ses capacités de fines chanter, mais aussi son flair pour agir. La chanson qu'ils ont créés était ' L'homme qui Got Away'. Concerto en fa de Gershwin était un travail commandé par Walter Damrosch au printemps 1925. Gershwin a commencé le score à deux pianos en Juillet, le titrage projets origine le 'Concerto New York.' Elle a été réalisée la première fois en Décembre 1925, avec Gershwin au piano et M. Damrosch l'Orchestre symphonique de New York. C'est le score 1927 2-piano, techniquement avancé dans le niveau de difficulté. Deux copies sont nécessaires pour la performance.
