Traditional hymn by James Montgomery Lloyd Larson's exquisite arrangement of a classic hymn text, paired with the tune MARTYRDOM, and Hugh Wilson's original music, is richly satisfying, yet easily learned. The expressive accompaniment supports the vocals and partners with them in conveying the communion message in this beautiful reflection on the Lamb of God.

Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed! The living God has poured out precious blood to reclaim us, His people. This blueprint is the heart of the gospel, and Jay Rouse and Rose Aspinall have made that incredible gift central to the creation of this musical. Beginning with Jay's modern setting of the beloved hymn Crown Him with Many Crowns to the triumphant, gospel-infused finale, He's Risen, Hallelujah!, the work of the cross is celebrated and reverenced with emotion, warmth, sorrow, and rejoicing. The anchor song, It Took a Lamb, is a classic from Geron Davis, while This is How We Know What Love Is provides an original offering that tells the story and excitement of running to the tomb and finding the stone rolled away. Your congregation will want to sing along with The Blood of Jesus Medley and will be drawn into worship by There is a Fountain. These six very accessible songs can be used in their entirety or across the Easter season as a beautiful 30-minute work.

This late work by Michael Praetorius is characterized by a combination of the new Italian style with the Protestant chorale. The Puericinium, which appeared in 1621, the year of Praetorius' death, has a music-pedagogical component. Four children's voices (who would have been boys in Praetorius' time), ideally spread around the four corners of the church, sing the chorale line by line in turn, interrupted and ended with tutti passages in which an adult choir joins. The whole piece is accompanied by basso continuo and a four-part instrumental ensemble ad lib. The magnificent Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott is still suitable for performance by a children's choir and adult choir today; although adult sopranos would not have sung in church choirs in Praetorius' time, they can join in the melody line in the tutti passages. Score and part available separately - see item CA.1003000.
